Fires
The fire is the most common disaster and
one of the most pesky. A fire is pretty easy to contain if you have enough Fire
Stations. Put the speed on pause and click on the "Red Light". A menu will pop
up. Drag to the "Dispatch Firefighters" box. Then you can place the fire icons
right next to the fire. Turn the speed up to "Turtle" and each Firefighter will
put out the fires he is next to. Pause the game again and repeat.
Note that Firefighters can NOT be placed on special tiles (schools, colleges,
parks, etc.).
Floods
Floods are a real hassle. There are few
ways to deal with a flood except for lowering the terrain all around the flood
and dispatching police and fire to the scene. Since the flood doesn't cause
any fires it's best to just let it through and dispatch the police and firefighters.
Tornados
Tornado's sweep through the town causing
massive destruction. There is nothing at all that can deal with a tornado so
it's best to just let it go through and clean up after it. Be prepared for a
lot of rubble when the tornado is done. The conditions that cause a tornado
are prime hurricane weather so if a tornado isn't enough destruction for you
be prepared for some random destruction. Have the Firefighters on alert!
Riots
Riots occur when you let something get
out of hand (Pollution, Unemployment, Crime). The citizens take to the street
to protest causing fires as they go. You need to have the police ready to take
care of the rioters and the fire stations ready to take care of the damage.
The protesters multiply as they walk along so it's best to pause the game as
you lay down your police coverage.
Plane Crashes
Plane crashes occur when, oddly enough,
a plane crashes. This disaster can be prevented only by building your airport
away from large structures like Arcologies and Commercial towers. Otherwise,
have your fire stations ready to clean up the mess that it makes. Also, Sim-Helicopter 1
can crash.
