Although their is no one way to make the city look beautiful here are a few
suggestions that make the city look better and raise the land value.
Method 1
One way to make the city look nicer and
increase land values is to put a Big Park in each 6x6 block of zones. The
Commercial zones grow especially high next to the big parks although Residential
zones also grow to maximum height next to Big Parks. The drawback to this is
the amount of space it takes up. One Big Park per 6x6 block takes up a lot of
development space.
Method 2
Adding waterfalls to the sides of a hill
make the city look nicer. It also increases the land value of the tiles
underneath and above. When coupled with the Big Parks it really spruces up the
city. There isn't a real drawback to this idea unless you are using Hydro-Power
plants and you need the hill space for more plants.
Method 3
Another way to make the city look better
is to put the Statue gift in the middle of the river. This serves no purpose
at all except to make the city look better. It only works with the Statue gift
since it requires no power or water.
Method 4
If you are building your city in a 6x6
grid system then this is a nice way to go. Place 4 squares of water in the
center of a grid and then fill the rest with zones. The drawbacks to this
method are taking up development space and the zones can't develop to their
maximum height (Ex. Historical Office Building).
