Review: This was the album that announced Sloan's presence to the world. It kicks off with Underwhelmed, their first single which went on to become a radio hit, and still gets much airtime today. Other singles included I Am The Cancer, Take It In, and 500 Up. Smeared even earned them a juno nomination for best new alternative band. It finally went gold in 1995, but only after an agressive marketing campaign by Geffen. I personally have owned Smeared for about a year now, and I have to say it still KICKS. Underwhelmed, for example, is far better than even a lot of today's big hits, and is certainly lyrically superior to most of them as well. Take it In has become a classic as well, and I hear it on the radio almost as much as I hear it from my CD player... almost. It moves on to some soft songs, but mostly some hard songs, including Lemonzinger and Two Seater, the 'hardest' songs on the bunch, before its quiter last track, What's There To Decide. Definitely a must for any Sloan fan.

Review: Sloan's first single ever, and still one of the best. This pun-filled ode to teenage love is a solid rocker clocking in at over 4 1/2 minutes, combining witty lyrics with a catchy tune to form a favorite that's destined to become a radio classic.

Review: This is it! The infamous song that I named the first version of this website after :-) The cool thing is that in addition to having a good name, it also has a good tune. Never have hard, grungy chords and sweet, melodious vocals been blended so harmoniously.
