Introduction

The FMHL is a modem hockey league using NHL96 by Electronic Arts to play games. The teams are completely drafted from scratch giving it wide variety. I am playing in the FMHL's third season. Only 20 teams are taken, and each team plays each team twice giving a 38 game schedule. The competition is high making it very difficult to be one of the top twelve teams who make the playoffs. Teams are alowed to make trades and make line changes on a weekly basis. I really enjoy it because it allows you to be a General Manager. Making trades with people can be very difficult yet always fun. I also get tired of playing the REALLY sucky computer so playing humans provides the necessary challenge.

News

10/20/97-The FMHL died two months ago.

7/30/97-Things are being picked up a bit. I lost my first game against NYI where he came grom behinf in the third period, but I came back in the second game strong for a 6-1 win. Then, today, I fianlly played Chicago who had one point more than me coming into the game. We had played many practice games and they all were close. Only Lemieux would allow me to win in the past and that essentially held true again. We played pretty even but Ranford came up HUGE for me allowing me to get 6-1 and 3-0 wins. Now I should be third in the West and 4th overall. Toronto, Chicago, and I all should be fighting for that spot, but San Jose and Detri=oit are just as good and could easy pull through in the last stretch of the season.

7/26/97-Lately, I have been playing really bad D. I lost to Toronto twice. He's a really good player but I let too many easy one-timer passes go through. I think I definitly could have won one game. Then I played New York the league leader. I had no chance to win. The fact that I was playing bad D made it worse. It doesn't really matter because I was already counting on those losses. I am falling in the standings and still have many tough games to go. Next week i play Chicago, who is probably my greatest rival. We have approximately the same number of points, so the games will be huge.

7/20/97-After taking my week off, I played New Jersey in perfect form. The first game was close, but I was able to shut him out and eventually pound in three goals. In the second game, the Vancouver offence exploded to what it is ultimately capable of. I scored 5 goals in maybe the first five minutes. Things slowed down with me winning 7-1 with about aminute left int the second. At this point the game was called and the Canucks happily took two wins from New Jersey. Next week is probably the toughest. I play New York(the clear league leader) and Toronto who has only played 10 games but already has big wins and a good reocrd. The Rangers have only lost one game so far. Yikes!

6/25/97-In week 5, my great playing continued. I first met with Anahiem, one of the best in the league and split with him(3-4, 6-4). I was more than happy to take the split. Right after that I took two games off the Flyers. I have won 8 out of my last 9 games. I have the next week off, so the earliest I could play is July 8th. Hopefully, I will still be playing as good.

6/22/97-After trading Tikannen, Andreychuk, and Johnson for Sergei Berezin and Steve Thomas, I have really improved. Lemieux si finally playing up to par and my defense is starting to click. I got my first two shutouts today. One agains Colorado and one against Calgary. I have improved from 4-4 to 8-4 and have won my last 5 games. Next week I have to play Anahiem, who is the best in my conference, and Philidelphia, who recently acquired eric Lindros and Joe Sakic.

6/12/97-I haven't been able to break .500. I did for while when I beat Boston twice, but then I lost to San Jose the next day, going back into .500. Right now I am on the border of playoff contention, but there are many more games to come. So far the New York Rangers, starring Paul Kariya, is leading the league with an undefeated 10-0 record. They have 48 goals for and only 8 goals against. WOW! Currently I am in a 4 team tie for 9th place, but many teams have played more games than me.
