The Rhythm guitarist and the one who inflicts most of his original songs on the band. He still thinks there's a little bit of Homer Simpson in all of us.
With his two children and hairy dog Mark lives in the hills outside Melbourne amongst the kookaburras, gang gang cockatoos and the strange still unsighted birds that make dolphin noises. He picks up the guitar
every three weeks.
Neil
The Bass guitarist, keyboard player and engineer. Taught bass by some of Melbourne's finest players (including Bill Putt of Spectrum fame), Neil provides the venue for the Hoiker happenings down in bayside Melbourne. Musical tastes include Texas, James (just loves that DVD) and the Richmond Football Club theme song.
With his wife and daughter he spends his spare moments watching Harry Potter
videos, writing surf instrumentals and denying any distant family links to the ex-wife of Mark
Norm
The guitar legend and thinking woman's sex symbol of the band. Heavily into Australian indigenous culture, native plants and the music of Donovan, T.Rex and Shane Howard, Norm is a very complex individual indeed.
Norm recently moved away from the dirt streets "that have no name" outside Melbourne. Even so he still writes angst-ridden melodic songs that the rest of the band never hears.
Greg, Phil and Mike
With a voice like Eric Burdon (due to either the cigarettes or shouting at the footy), Greg comes along to every second or third jam when the band plays covers. A splendid time is always had by all. Like Greg, Phil is another avid Richmond Tiger supporter and another honorary hoiker who has belted the skins in the name of noise! Meanwhile Mike is currently in South Korea but has joined in in the past with slide guitar and Billie Holiday and Ry Cooder songs.
With photos included elsewhere on this website Al from Beach Trains now comes along to several jams a year to provide a backbeat you can't lose (it). Along with Andrew Patterson from the band's 80's days, Al is now the third drummer to play with Guano Hoik!
