NOTES: Only one word can describe this show: WOW!!! Certainly one of the best shows I ever had the priviledge of seeing. Stevie was in his groove that night and played like there was no tomorrow. I do not remember much - except for him standing on a dark stage, alone in the spotlight, in his long overcoat and hat with tassles - jammin away in his own little world. Oblivious that he was in DC (or wherever) - only aware that he was making beautiful soulful music. That show blew me away so much - I mourned for a long time when he passed away - way before his time. The first vinyl record I ever bought was Couldn't Stand the Weather. SRV helped me to understand what "soul" in music really was and how deeply it can touch your very being if you let it. Jeff Beck also put on a groovy guitar night and when the two played together - great energy and spontaneity.
