NOTES: I live within walking distance to Merriweather - so it is one of my favorites for summer shows. This was my first show to see Trey solo with his new band. I was not sure what to expect - but was confident that Jim (one of my best friends and avid concert goer) and I would have a good time. Unfortunately - Jim was in a car accident in Lynchburg, and was unable to make the show. I would have traded Jim's ticket for him - but he had it with him - so he had to eat the cost of the show (Sorry Jim). I was certainly not disappointed with Trey and his new band. They just plain rocked. I was kind of expecting that Trey would be headlining and all the other musicians would be his "fluff" - but boy was I wrong. All of the other musicians he assembled are pretty damn good in their own right. They could have been a damn good band without Trey - but, put Trey in the mix - and you one kickin party time. The only song that he did that was a Phish cover (at least that I recognized) was First Tube. It lasted almost 15 minutes and was very bluesy. I will certainly see Trey and his band again.
