the fragile. not the album just yet. the song. nin played it at the vma's the other day (yes i watched the vma's, so fricking bite me). here's the lyrics.

she shines in a world full of ugliness.
she matters when everything is meaningless

fragile
she doesn't see her beauty
she tries to get away sometimes
it's just that nothing seems
worth saving.
i can't watch her slip
away
I WON'T LET YOU FALL APART

she reads the minds of all the people as they pass her by
hoping someone can see
if i could fix myself i'd-
but it's too late for me.
I WON'T LET YOU FALL APART

we'll find the perfect place to go where we can run and hide
we'll build a wall and we can keep them on the other side
but they keep waiting...
...and picking...
it's something i have to do
i was there, too
before everything else

i was like you.

yeah, this was a very good performance. trent/robin/danny/chris etc were supposed to do "we're in this together", but i had an itching feeling they'd do something like this or "la mer", so it needed to be watched carefully. *nod* sadly, we had to sit thru an hour of kid rock and backstreets, but that's ok. trent and the boys did good. the song "the fragile" was very powerful. it inspired the same feeling as their instrumental version of "eraser", on their outsideburning tour with davidbowie. also a bit like dead souls, but calmer. mp3's of the 9/9/99 performance are already circulating about in all the right places. that's it.
