MICHAEL CUCCIONE'S PAGE

SAD NEWS

Sad news strucked all of us on Saturday, January 13, 2001. Our beloved Michael Cuccione who played QT McKnight of 2gether passed away of the natural causes. Here now is an artical off of MTV.com:

Michael Cuccione, who played the engaging Jason "Q.T." McKnight on the boy-band spoof "2gether," died of natural causes Saturday night in his hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia, just eight days after his 16th birthday.

"His lungs just gave out," his uncle, also named Michael Cuccione, said on Tuesday (January 16). "We weren't really expecting it."

Cuccione had been fighting respiratory problems for several months and did not appear in the last several episodes of the popular series, which aired on MTV.

While Cuccione's character was afflicted with the fictional "biliary thrombosis," in real life, the teen had previously suffered from Hodgkin's disease, a form of cancer affecting the lymph nodes. The cancer, first diagnosed in July 1994 when Cuccione was 9, was treated with five months of chemotherapy, but returned the following year and spread to his lungs. However, more aggressive chemotherapy, radiation and a successful bone marrow transplant kept him cancer-free.

According to Cuccione's uncle, the singer/actor's cancer had not returned in five years, but past treatments had left him unable to move air properly through his lungs. He developed a problem with his diaphragm and was forced to tape episodes of "2gether" with a portable oxygen machine in tow.

Cuccione was unable to fight off the effects of a minor Vancouver-area car accident in early December, and he entered the hospital on December 4 with pneumonia. He spent the rest of his stay on a respirator before succumbing to respiratory failure on January 13.

A well-known campaigner for cancer research and awareness following his bout with the disease, the singer/actor established the charitable Michael Cuccione Foundation for Cancer Research and turned a love of music into a fund-raising effort by recording a five-song CD, Make a Difference. He also co-authored a book with his grandmother, There Are Survivors: The Michael Cuccione Story," about his experiences.

His efforts eventually raised close to $500,000 (CDN), which was donated to the B.C. Children's Hospital.

In July 1997, a request to meet "Baywatch" star David Hasselhoff led to an acting role on an episode of the show playing real-life cancer victim Charlie Dodson Hays, and more roles followed.

The producers of "2gether" had already arranged to shoot the movie and ultimately the spin-off TV series in Vancouver when they discovered Cuccione and cast him in the part of Q.T., the "cute one." The series was an immediate hit, as was the soundtrack album. The group even took on concert performances, most notably opening seven shows for Britney Spears.

A memorial service is being held for Cuccione in Vancouver Wednesday evening with the funeral set for Thursday morning. Both are open to the public, according to his family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Cuccione's memory to the Michael Cuccione Foundation, Box 31081, 2929 St. John's Street, Port Moody, B.C, Canada, V3H 4T4.

I'm really sorry you guys. I wish that it hadn't happened. I wish that it wasn't him. I wish that it wasn't anybody. If you want to cry, go ahead. I understand completely, I went through deaths of loved ones so many times. IF you need to talk to somebody e-mail me. I will always be here. You can also go here to leave any message for Michael. Anything you would like to say to him. Don't be afraid to be honest. If you're angry, go ahead and say it. I wish I could turn back time and let him come back once again. This is not a joke. This is not even funny. I want you guys to go on and live your life. Michael would like you to do that too. Always think of him. Always. I'm sorry. I am so sorry about this. I wrote something concerning him so here it is:

Before 2gether: The Movie premiered on MTV, I never knew Michael Cuccione. Since the explosion of the group, he became the shining star in my life. If it was not for him, I might not even pay attention to 2gether as I do now. Best wishes to the rest of the guys because I know they're hurting too bu Michael was one of the best young influential person on this earth. He inspired many people, especially the young ones to go for their dreams. Not to let an illness or disabilities to come between their goals. He was funny and he was smart. He was a charm in our hearts. Until this very hour, "Visualize" will always echo in my mind. His voice and his face will never be forgotten. He was so young and he went too soon. Although, he's no longer suffering. He's flying with the Angels and with those eyes of his, he's watching over all of us. If you're giving up and you feel that certain something to make you go on, that would be Michael. He's guiding the ones that love him. For the fans who had never met him, just keep wishing. If you believe within your soul, you will see him every night in your dreams. He will be there. He is already there. It's okay to cry and weep but don't forget to go on with your life. Remember the good things that he had done. That hilarious make-out scene with his hand. Or that "son of a blitch" comment he made on one of the episodes. He was a great memory. He will always be with you.

MICHAEL'S LAST WORDS

These quotes were taken from MuchMusic's special on Michael's funeral. They took his previous interview and summed his words up in terms of advice, love, and good-byes.

"When I heard I got this part, I thought it was just the movie. But I knew that there were probably no boundaries and that it can really go futher. And--and it did. It just--it's exploded."

"QT's health problems are--it's a completely fictional, uh, desease. Which is great. Um, I've had health problems as well. But uh, it's just a coincidence and isn't that incredible?"

"At a young age, I learn what priorities are. And I was lucky. Um, I went through a lot and I had a lot of support. But uh, dreams come true. I made it. And here I am."

"My main goal in life is uh, has nothing to do with singing or acting. It's to see a cure for cancer. And I have a foundation that uh, raises money for this [for cancer research]. Any time I go to the--the hospital for check-ups um, just to see the kids, it inspires me to continue to want to fight. I think um, peop--anytime you get a person suffering with cancer, if you see somebody who--who's made it. It's inspiring and it--it lets you know that you can make it too"

"To me, this is the dream role. My loves in life are singing, acting, dancing and I get to do all three."

"I think you gotta be positive with every situation. And you gotta persevere. If you do that, dreams come true. And--you know--it's just (clear throat) everything in life, you can look at negative or positive. I mean, it's a no brainer. Be positive."
