In this Nicolas Roeg's cult classic, David Bowie portrays an alien (known by his earth name of Thomas Jerome Newton), who has come to Earth in search of water for his dying planet. Newton knows English,
has a British passport and raises a small fortune by selling jewellery. By merchandising many inventions from his home planet, he makes a gigantic fortune.
Newton needs money to construct his own space vehicle program. But he falls into human distractions and then is so damaged that he can't return.
