The Beatles first four albums were released on cd  in 1987 in mono. To be honest, they sound awful. I hope Capitol will rectify the situation, possibly with DVD-A or SACD. Anyway, here are some A to B comparisons, along with some other miscellaneous audio clips. You can e-mail me here.
NEWS! Capitol Records will release the Beatles first six American albums in a "Limited Edition" cd box set, due out on November 16, 2004. It will contain "Meet The Beatles", "The Beatles Second Album", "Something New" and "Beatles '65". The cds will have both the stereo and mono versions of every song. Most of the songs are making their official stereo cd debut! We'll have to see how good the audio quality is. "Please Please Me" The difference between this version and the commercially available mono version
is the mistake John makes in the second verse. He begins singing the wrong words, then switches to the
correct ones halfway through the line. He also sings the first "come on" a little differently.
The mono and stereo versions of "From Me To You" are different.
The mono version has a harmonica in the intro and the stereo version does not.
The commercially available versions of "Sie Liebt Dich" and "Komm Gib Mir Deine Hand"
on "Past Masters Vol. 1" are in mono. Here are clips of the stereo versions.
And here's a snipet I created of
"She Loves You" in stereo!
This clip of "I Want To Hold Your Hand" is a rare "left/right" stereo version of the song.
It was released in Australia only.
"If I Fell" The differences between the mono and stereo versions of this song are fairly obvious.
Producer George Martin prepared a different mix for each.
Notice the double tracking of John's vocals right at the beginning of the stereo version.
This is the rare "James Bond intro" to "Help!" which remains unreleased  on cd.
"Rain" Near the end of the song, there is a short clip of John singing backwards.
You can easily hear what he sings when it's played in
reverse. This was the first time the Beatles tried that.
"Paul is dead, man. Miss him, miss him, miss him." This is the short bit of dialogue between "I'm So Tired"
and "Blackbird" played backwards. This appears on "The Beatles", commonly referred to as "The White Album".
"Revolution 9" This clip of a voice repeating "number nine" sounds like "Turn me on, dead man" when heard
backwards. This was another supposed clue of the death of Paul McCartney.
"Free As A Bird" At the end of this song is a backwards snipet of John talking.
What he says is very clear when listened to
backwards.
"Her Majesty" This, the shortest Beatles song, is the last song on Abbey Road. It's title didn't even appear
on first pressings of the album, and it appears after a thirteen second pause after "The End"
