Well as I said before, I've been playing for about 12 years. I plan on doing it much longer, throughout college and eventually being a teacher. Here's what I've done...
4 years in the Blue Mt. High School Marching, Symphonic and Jazz bands.
4 years Schuylkill County Band, Pennsylvania.
2 years District 10 Band, Pennsylvania
1 year Region 5 and All-State Band, Pennsylvania
1 year Susquehanna Univ. Honors Band
Member of the 2nd Marine Division Band, Camp Lejeune, NC, since August 1997
Here's a picture of my 1930 Conn Chu Berry Alto
Saxophone. I use a vintage Selmer C* mouthpiece (the ones that
came with thier Mark VI horns) and Vandoren 3's with a Rovner
ligature. I really enjoy playing on this horn because I get a
really round and rich tone. A very easy horn to play, in my
opinion and it didn't cost me very much.
This is my Yamaha YTS-62, the Tenor
I've been playing on since my freshman year.
I use a Bilger Gold* and a Vandoren 3 with a Rovner ligature. You might say that the Bilger Gold* has too big of an opening for classical work, but I beg to differ. I get a really great sound with this setup. For jazz I use an Otto Link metal Super Tone Master with a 7 facing. I also use Vandoren 2 1/2's with this mouthpiece.
I consider myself a classical sax player mainly. I do enjoy playing jazz and doing some big band work, but I really enjoy the sound of the saxophone in a classical setting.
