Harry Gore and the Measles Subtlety Goes Out the Window

Once you get past a rather painful attempt at hardcore rap entitled "The Truth Is Outta Sight," Harry Gore presents an album in the mode of a lighter King's X combined with a lighter Living Colour. Toss in some Lenny Kravitz and straight-up blues rock influence, and you're left with a style at which Gore is actually very good. These songs are full of hooks and harmonies. The best tracks here are instantly catchy and hummable.

Not only can Gore play, he's got a sense of humor; this is likely the first and last time you'll ever hear a song titled "Praying For Madonna." Yes, as in Madonna, the pop star. "There's a Dove" and "Playin' with Matches" are standard pop-rock. One track, "Alfred," clocks in at only three seconds long. "The Truth Is Outta Sight" is the weakest of the twelve songs on this collection. The remaining eight are really quite good.

I'd be willing to bet that this man provides one impressive live show.
