Savage Garden Blossoms in the U.S.

The darling duo from down under, Savage Garden wasted little time catching on here in America. Australia Sprouts a Spitfire

For a band that appears to be an overnight success, Savage Garden had a quite humble beginning.Keyboardist Daniel Jones (not to be confused with Silverchair frontman Daniel JOHNS) was in a local cover band in Brisbane Australia. "We had publishing interest in some of the songs we'd written," Daniel recalls. "The publishing company suggested that we needed a frontman." Daniel then did the logical thing and put an ad in the newspaper that read "Musicians In Search Of Singer" and that lef him to Darren Hayes. The guys clicked right away and before long they wrote enough songs to put together a demo tape that helped land a manager. At this point the dynamic duo settled no a band name, Savage Garden, which comes from Darren's favorite author Anne Rice's vampire novels.
