For The Fans

In the beginning, all we wanted was to make a few songs
And maybe catch a few girls along the way
To make it big, we headed west on our last dime
But we never forgot that without loyal fans, we were done

We were brothers in music just trying to survive.
We were sure success was just one more day away.
One brother soon left and another joined our ranks
With a new song in our hearts, our first fans took notice

We hit the club circuit and pounded the pavement
We were willing to do whatever it took to be noticed
We even made ourselves better looking than our girls
But it was the music and live show that spoke to the fans

The cat dragged us onto the national scene
The critics panned us for the way we looked
But did they even listen to what we had to say?
We cried tough, talked dirty, and never forgot about the fans

We hit the road with fallen angels and parents that don't dance
Good times and roses became the summer's anthems
Multi-platinum and Number 1's, we had the golden touch
We kept partying and performing for our fans

Flesh and blood became the biggest yet
We rode the wind to find things that almost tore us apart
We sacrificed the bop for a brawl and sent a brother off in tragedy
We were bad boys, but we never forgot our fans

A new member came and left just as quickly
A new brother brought the blues, but it wasn't the same
Our brotherhood was rapidly falling apart
We needed time to heal and hoped our fans would understand

Other things kept us away from the stage for years
A different story for each of the four original brothers
Over time the four individual paths would cross
But many thought we had forgotten all about our fans

The urge to perform live was an insistent one
Critics labeled us a has-been without hearing a note
But why would we start listening to them after all these years?
Sold out arenas nationwide proved our fans loved us still

Five tours and two albums later, we are still together
Sometimes brotherhood is hard to find
A tragic fire lost our gear, our stage, but not our spirit
For as long as we can, we will keep right on performing for our fans.
