Aero Club has long been the place to go when you couldn't think of anywhere else. Nice classy little place, you can definitely see the transition between the daytime locals and the evening crowd when the bartender age drops about 35 years.
A place to play pool, has good happy hour prices, and a nice window section to watch the passers by and breathe real air when it's hot inside. I'm there probably about two Fridays a month now for happy hour if you wanna say hi.
"Specializes in microbrews. No hard liquor, just beer and wine. (Not being a wine drinker, can't really say much about the selection. But at least it will appease the woman who begs off by saying "I don't drink beer!") Microbrew selection is top notch- they have local brews like Ballast Point Ale and a wide range of mostly West Coast microbrews (Sierra Nevada, Hemp Ale, Red Nectar, Anchor Steam). There are a couple of pool tables and a really cool jukebox.
"For some reason, regulars at other dive bars show up here when they want to get away from their "normal crowd". One night, I counted an ex and a friend of a friend from Lamp, plus a whole group of people I recognized from Live Wire.
Fun Stuff
The bartenders are really knowledgeable about the beer selections. True snakebites and Irish style Black and Tans (Guiness and Harps instead of Bass, but they'll switch per your request).
You can buy mini pizzas that the bartender will heat up in a toaster oven.
Fantastic JukeBox. Fat Boy Slim to Led Zeppelin and, of course, James Brown.
