Formerly one of my favorite dives, the Morena Club is now under new ownership and has gone through a revitalization. There are now DJ's and live...how do you say...ah yes..."shows." From one of the new owners:
"My name is Randy Willert, I am the owner of the Morena Club. The bar has been under new ownership since December 1998, and has gone through some major changes; We now have several attractive vibrant young woman tending bar, which by the way is now full liquor, we have live entertainment 3 nights a week, Karaoke on Tuesdays, and of course a pool table, darts etc.. We are heavily promoting new music, offering bands with their own music the opportunity to play and get the word out. I hope you can update your information on the bar and perhaps call myself or my partner Hector at 275-4431(new phone #) and talk about the new Morena Club.
As of 8/2/99 I haven't been there yet, and can't imagine what it's like. Frankly, I'm scared. Another fav of mine, bar dynamite has gone through the same process. I guess people need to be entertained by something other than conversation.
