Okay, wow, didn't realize it had been two months this quickly.  A lot has happened, including a mini-tour, recording for the September album, and more.  There are various updates on this page right now.  Pretty soon I'm hoping that I'll feel motivated enough to stop watching the Sabres win and finish redoing this whole page.  Possible guitar tabliture, reviews, past show info, upcoming concert calendar, etc, if people are interested.

Okay, the mini-tour of New York City, Boston, MA and Buffalo, NY is done with.  Good show in Buffalo, and I've heard the NYC and Boston shows were good.  All 3 were played with the Jupiter Kings and the Ivory Coast.

In other news, a full length album should be out this year.  14 tracks are written for it, but some may not make the cut.  Some of the songs include "Love," "Explination," "Highways," "Cool," "Helen of Troy," "Intoxication" and "More" which have all been played live a few times.

For those of you not keeping up on the Tugboatness in your life, there is a mailing list on OneList to help keep you informed.  There's some spiffy things happening soon, like a new ALBUM is being recorded (hopefully soundclips will be up soon); there will be another tour (and they're gonna play like it's 1999); as well as bigger and other things for the band.

Right now this page is undergoing a lot of reconstruction.  The 1998 tour is done, and Separation Songs is out...  It's an all-new whoopass way to hear more Tugboat Annie.  (It's a five-song EP with great songs on it!  You can order it on CDnow, a place that has all kinds of stuff, including Wake Up and Dissapear, and maybe the now sold-out Superfriends!)
 

Mike asked Tim Barett (drums) and Jim Brown (former guitarist, now in Damn the Man) to join the band. They started to write material in Syracuse, NY, where Mike (and Tim and Jim) were from. Back in 1991 they played shows, and wrote songs like "Bikini," "Cut You Up" and others.  Two years later Tugboat went on to record El Mar, their first public demo, with Robbie Takac (who later gained fame with the Goo Goo Dolls) producing it. El Mar was given away free, and spread all over the place from people copying the tape around... All of this was back before "Stay Inside" was released. ("Stay Inside" was their first single, split with Crazy Alice.  It came from El Mar.) 

"Nine More" and "Try" were released on a split-single with former Buffalo scenesters Milf, followed in 1994 by the "Jack-Knife" single, with the B-side of "Mock."

They moved to Massachusettes in the summer of '95 where Sonic Bubblegum, their old record label was based. They released one album, and many singles, on Sonic Bubblegum. That one album is called Superfriends* which was released March 24, 1995. Before it was even released, Jim left the band, paving the way for Andy Beiter to replace him. Since then Andy left the band on January 1, 1996, and was replaced by Jason Celeste, an East Aurora, NY native. In the fall of 1996 they went into the studios again, and have recorded their latest album, Wake Up & Disappear, which was released on April 22, 1997 on Big Top/Kimchee, as well as other dates, depending on who you ask.  Go figure...

In the fall of 1997 Tugboat Annie did their first full-US tour.  There's pictures from that tour in their all new EP (shorter) CD that's out (Separation Songs) on Big Top Records.  The CD was written while they were on the road...

1998 wasn't a quiet year.  There was the April release of Separation Songs, a month-long 2nd US Tour in October, the CMJ Music Festival (again) and miscellaneous other show dates and things.

Now, in early 1999 they have completed their second US tour, and with millions of satisfied fans, they'll be going into the studio, to record and release their fourth CD, which will go multi-platinum.  Er, at least be sold in a record stores near you and online this fall.
