Savage Garden concert review and experience

(real)

This is a pic from that same concert but I didn't take it

I got to the venue about 2.30 (concert started 7.30pm) thinking that there wouldn't be a lot of people outside coz I didn't think SG are the kind of a band that people cue for, at least not in Sweden. But there were. Anyway, I cued and got to know this 21 yearold girl for a little while and then her 23 yearold male friend whom she had sort of dragged there (he wanted to go but not that badly, he want coz she asked)...hahaha. We also met two women who were 35, they thought Darren and Daniel are about 30, wrong there!

The concert was totally cool and guess where I was standing??? FRONT ROW!!!!!! I couldn’t believe it! Daniel looks soooo much better in the flesh! It’s funny how Dan looks so much better in person coz his features don’t change, there’s just something magical I guess.
He looked so sweet, he kept smiling all the time. In pictures and on TV he looks like just a regular guy but in the real flesh he was awesome and I love people who smile so I loved him for doing that. He was so funny, after each song (possibly not every single song but everytime I looked I saw him throw a pick) he would throw his guitar pick into the audience and pick a new one from his keyboard.

They started off with Tears of pearls and again...I was soooooo close!!!!! Daniel wore the same outfit during the whole concert, a black shirt with glowing-in-the-dark flames on the arms...too cool and black pants, I didn't see his shoes. Dan wasn't as close as Darren coz I wasn't in the middle, I was slightly to the right of the stage.

There were some girls who had a banner saying "Ben is the best", Ben is the guitar player and Darren grabbed the banner from them and showed it to the audience, Ben and Daniel. Then he grabbed a camera from the audience and photographed himself (must've been such a fantastic pic...hehehe), then he threw the camera back, hope it didn't break. Darren was extremely energetic on stage, he definately has a flair for shows!
Darren had a long coat with tight pants and sweater underneath, I've seen him with the same outfit on the Oz tour. Then he took the coat off (shame, long coats are becoming on him) and then he had a weird thingee on for break me shake me then for universe he had another shirt with a zipper on his chest. He changed to a white long coat for All around me and he took it off for I'll bet he was cool and I think that's it. During ”Break me shake me” Darren looked me in the eyes, coolness.

Darren and the back-up singer Anna-Maria (dark hair) sang a song probably called "I can't make you love me", they sang that line the most so I assume it's the name of the song. She has a very very good voice which made me think how unfair it is that people like the Spice girls are so successful and can't sing and people like Anna-Maria who sing so well are merely back-up singers. Then they performed ”One of us” by Joan Osbourne which Darren described as a song that makes a lot of sence to him. They "finished" but came back and did ”This side of me” (one of my faves) and Truly madly deeply. Darren also said one Swedish word, he said "my Swedish isn't very good but I can say 'tack'" which means thank you.

I loved the concert, it was about 1h 40 min, if you can complain I would say that it wouldn't have hurt if they would've done something acoustic. My favourite was probably ”I want you” because Darren smiled the most during that one and he made the audience say "chica cherry cola” and then he cheered big time when we did say ”chica cherry cola”! but Mine was really cool and This side of me was just sweet. During the whole concert Daniel kept singing along, most musicians find it easier to sing along as they’re playing because that way they can remember easier which chord to play. I don’t know if that was the case with Daniel.
I didn't scream at all during the concert, I was miss cool. I enjoyed the music and knew that screaming wouldn’t benefit me in any way.

Afterwards the MOST AMAZING (a little bit anyway) thing happened. After the concert me and this girl stayed a bit so that we wouldn't have to exit when everybody else was and people were scattered around the venue after a while but we stayed where we had been during the concert, in the front.
Then out of nowhere Daniel came and was talking to a technition about 10 meters away from us...aaaaa...the girl shouted "Daniel!" and I was apprehensive about doing that since I'm shy but I thought what the heck, I won't get this chance again so I shouted "Daniel" too and then he heard us and looked at us and gave us the BIGGEST smile and waved, he looked so sweet! it was SOOOOOOOOOOOO utterly coooooool!!!!! nobody else but us was around! (thanx, Daniel, you’re sweet!)

It was a little bit disappointing however that they didn't sign autographs or anything but hey...I did get the smile and the wave which is more than most got. Maybe they had to go somewhere afterwards.

All in all, Savage Garden are FANTASTIC live. I’ve heard bands who sound good on record but terrible live. The difference between SG live and on record is that they are ‘rockier’ live which is how it’s supposed to be. If you get the chance, go to a Savage Garden concert, you’ll love it!!!
