As I approached the forrest a breeze flung towards me and gently played with my hair. I was so happy I couldn’t describe it and I didn’t have need for doing that because I was all alone and yet not. Everytime I set foot here my mind would take a different shape. My thoughts would become more elaborate and my body felt like it wasn’t there, I was flying.
But this day came to be peculiar. I was listening to the humming of the birds when I suddenly heard somebody say ”hey!”. I knew no bird sounded like that. The voice was soft, deep and melancholic and the sorrow lingered on long after the word had passed away. I thought that perhaps I had just imagined the sound and was about to carry on my walk when I heard that same voice again, this time it said ”Please help us, infront of your foot”. I was shocked, I figured some animal was actually talking. I searched the ground near my feet with my eyes and saw two flowers that took the life out of me. I was horrified.
I looked at them and couldn’t stop shivering. The flowers each had a face, a human face and these enigmatic faces looked very much like the ones of Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones. ”Darren” asked me to calm down which I was more or less incapable of at the time. I took a deep breath and asked them what they wanted help with. They said a curse had been put on them. Once they had offended this child who was also a witch and the witch had decided to turn them into flowers and put them in a place where it’d be difficult to find them.
I immediately asked them how they could explain the group Savage Garden and how it was that the group was all around the world while these two claimed to be Darren and Daniel. They said it was part of the suffering plan of that child they had offended, he had decided that he’s turn two dolls into real people looking just like them so that they’d know if they were not cursed they could’ve achieved success but that was now impossible. A tear danced down Daniel’s cheek as he was telling me this. Darren said even the name was to remind them of where they were, in a savage garden
Assuming that there was something I could do for them I asked if that was the case. They said if ”Savage Garden” would stop playing music completely then they’d be free and ”Savage Garden” would turn into dolls again and they (the real Darren and Daniel) would never be able to return to music but they thought it was a small sacrifise for their human lives. They said the hard bit was that they couldn’t move and if I met them maybe I could convince them to quit. I pointed out that I was merely a young person among so many others, why would they want to finish something that’s so good? They didn’t have any answers for me.
Suddenly I decided to not do anything about it. Everybody was happy with the fake Savage Garden so why ruin that. I could be kind but fact is, I wasn’t and am not. I was selfish and didn’t care and those traits are still with me. They begged with all they had but I wouldn’t listen. I promissed them if I ever built a homepage I would honor them by having pictures of them on it and today on my banner sits two flowers with faces reminding me of that peculiar, odd and strange day. I had entered the garden like a breeze so soft but walked away like a cold smuthering wind and never returned, never looked back.
