Plant seeds of pure pop, sprinkle with dreams, then let the Australia sun do it's thing.
That's how vocalist Darren Hayes and man-of-many instruments Daniel Jones
blossomed into a musical mega-sensation with their first hit "I Want You", and their
more recent single "To The Moon And Back".
This DownUnder duo is really having fun - especially since fame has brought the two to the US. "I absolutely LOVE America", dark haired Darren says, "It was people like Michael Jackson and Prince who made me want to be a singer."
American pop culture has been a huge influence on Savage Garden's style and sound. For instance, the sci-fi setting for "To The Moon And Back" video comes from the guys obsession with Star Wars. And then there's the mention of cherry cola in "I Want You".
And speaking of that song, we wondered if chic-a-cherry, which Darren says often during "I Want You" has any special significance. Nope! "I'm just sort of stuttering the word 'cherry'" Darren says, "Chic-a means nothing!".
