Chapter 5 
  Slovak & Irons  
  Leaves the Band 
In 1988 the drug use was very big in the band ,each of the members was using some kind of drug .Flea and Irons weren't addicts but the addiction of Kiedis and Slovak was out of control.  
     So on June 27 1988 Hillel Slovak died because of an Heroin overdose it was very bad for the band ,because after Hillel's death Jack Irons decided to leave the band and months later he had to go into a mental hospital cause he was so shocked that he didn't want to play in a band anymore (he didn't want to loose more friends). One day the vocalist of The Clash asked Jack to play with him ,so Irons couldn't say no and after that he played in a band called "Eleven" (actually he is in Pearl Jam).  
     Flea and Kiedis could handle it better than Jack so they continued with the band.  
     Clara (Flea's daughter) helped Flea to survive.  
     Anthony decided to left the drugs definitely ,so he started to take care of himself.  
     Duane "Black Bird" Mc Knight joined the band in August and he left it at the beginning of 1989 ,when he was replaced by John Frusciante.  
     In the drums was for a very short period D.H. Peligro. after him Chad Smith joined the band (this was the first band John & Chad were on).
