MEETING THE MONKEES IN MY SCHOOL

This story came to me in a dream. It may sound kind of weird but that's the way my dreams are. Also, in case you might wonder, this story takes place in 1966.

MEETING THE MONKEES IN MY SCHOOL

There I was in school listening to my history teacher drone on and on about the Civil War. It was a hot day and I couldn't wait to go to my next class: chorus. I loved to sing but as slow as the class was going I didn't think I'd ever be able to get up to the choir room! Finally, as I was watching a fly buzz around the room, waiting for my teacher to finish her lecture, the bell rang. It was finally time to go to my next class. I gathered up my books quickly and raced out of the room and into the choir room. "Hi, Mrs. Roberts!" I called to the teacher. She waved back and I went to my spot. We were about to start to sing when I heard music coming from the auditorium down the hall. I strained to listen, to hear what it was, but I couldn't. Everyone was talking too loud before class. I wished they would quiet down and when class began they did. That's when I heard the words: "Then I saw her face! Now I'm a believer!" I knew those lyrics! It had to be the Monkees! Even if it was only a record, which is what I thought it was, I had to go listen. The Monkees was my favorite group! I went up to Mrs. Roberts. "Mrs. Roberts?" I asked. "Could I leave? I'm not feeling too good," I lied.

"Sure," she answered. I raced out of the room. I stopped at the door of the auditorium, and opened it slowly. I wanted to suprise whoever was listening to the record. I walked into the room. All of a sudden, the music stopped. Four boys on the stage looked at me. I stood glued to the floor and I felt my jaw drop in disbelief. "You-You're the Monkees aren't you?" I asked stunned.

They looked at each other. "Yeah, that's them!" "Us?" "Them?" "Him?" they said in unison. They looked at me again and smiled. "So you know who we are?" one asked.

"Yeah!" I answered. I pointed to each one as I named them. "Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, Mike Nesmith, and Peter Tork."
Mike smiled. "Yup!" he said. "Did you hear us rehearsing?"
"Just barely. The class was so loud..." I trailed off. Davy was staring at me. I blushed and Micky noticed what Davy was doing and whispered to him. Davy looked away and I continued. "But I heard part of I'm a Believer and I just had to come listen!"

Micky looked at me strangly. "What's your name?" I told him my name was Michelle. "Well, Michelle, would you like to hear us rehearse?" he asked.

I nodded. "What are you doing here, anyway?" I asked. "We needed a quiet place to rehearse, so we came here and the principal said we could." Davy replied. I could tell I was in love with him as soon as I heard his voice.

"Really?" I asked. They nodded. "Well could I go get my friend? She really likes your music too."

"Ok," Peter answered. "But only one. We don't want a lot of people here."
I agreed and raced down to the lunch room. I ran up to my best friend, Lindsay. "Lindsay!" I whispered. "Come with me!" As we ran down the hall together, I explained that the Monkees were in our school. We burst into the auditorium together. "This is my friend Lindsay," I told the Monkees. They said hi and Lindsay and I sat down to listen to them play. About an hour later when they were done the jumped off the stage and sat around us.

"So," Davy said after we had chatted for a couple of minutes. "Do either of you lovely ladies have boyfriends or something?" Lindsay and I shook our heads no. Davy smiled. "Well," he said, "Would either of you like to come with us to our audition and then out to dinner?" We said that we would like that and we went with them to the audition. They sang beautifully but didn't get the job. Lindsay and I felt bad for them so we paid for the meal at dinner. I could tell Lindsay liked Peter and that Peter liked her. I really liked Davy but I couldn't tell if he liked me. As we walked to the Monkees' pad, we met Micky and Mike's girlfriends. Micky and Mike said good-bye and went with them. Then Davy and I left Peter and Lindsay so everyone could do what they wanted.

Davy and I walked along the beach in silence. I couldn't figure out how to get Davy to tell me if he liked me or not. We sat down on the beach and stared at the ocean. Then I felt Davy's hand turn my face towards him and he leaned over and gently, but passionately, kissed me. I was suprised by the kiss, for I hadn't expected it. But as Davy kissed deeper and more passionately, I started to kiss back. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer and I wrapped my arms around his neck. Then Davy stopped kissing me. I was stunned by the kiss. "Michelle?" he whispered. "I love you so much! Do you fell the same way about me?" I nodded my head, shocked. Davy told me he loved me. It was a dream come true. I had never thought he would like me. Davy kissed me again and then got up and picked me up. He carried me to the Pad and up to his bedroom. He layed me down on the bed gently, and leaned over and kissed me again. I threw my arms aroung him and kissed back. Davy took off my clothes and I took off his. Then we made love in his bed until we fell asleep.

The next morning I woke up in Davy's arms, both of us naked. He was awake and smiling down at me. He leaned down and kissed me again. I reached up and stroked my hand across his forehead and down his cheek, smiling. Davy went to the bathroom to take a shower while I got dressed. Davy came back into the room, dressed, and led me downstairs.

"We were wondering where you were, Davy," Mike said. Then he saw me. "Ohhh! I got it." He smiled and turned back to finish his breakfast. Davy and I left and walked along the beach.

"Michelle?" he said, as he bent down to pick a small flower that was growing near the sand.

"What is it, Davy?" I asked, watching him twist the stem of the flower into a small circle.

He finished twisting the flower and put it on my finger like a ring. "I know this isn't much of a ring, but, would you marry me?"

I stared at him. "Yes!" I cried, and hugged and kissed him. We ran along the beach and ran into Lindsay and Peter who were also taking a walk. "Lindsay! Peter! Hi!" I greeted them.

"Hi Michelle! Guess what!" Lindsay answered. "Peter and I are going out!"
I smiled. "Good for you Lindsay! But Davy and I are getting married." She congradulated us. As we were waiting for the day of the wedding, we found that the principal of my school had heard the Monkees and was willing to pay them to play in my school everyday. So they did and Lindsay and I went down to see them everyday. A little while later, Davy and I got married and two months after we got married, Peter and Lindsay also got married. Everyone was happy and we all lived together as one big family.
