I awoke in a white room, apparently a hospital. Where was I? Why were people
talking with no Oklahoma accents? What was going on?
Then I saw Peter. He sat in the waiting chair outside the room. I saw 3 more
figures, but I could not make them out. Peter? Why was Peter Tork in a waiting
room at a hospitial? He couldn't be waiting for me, could he? Then it came back
to me. I wasn't me to them I was Mary. I could remember everything now. Where I
was from...my name...everything. Then more thoughts came through my head. Where
exactly was I now? I surely wasn't in Oklahoma. And why were the Monkees outside
my room? The only thing I couldn't remember was how I got into the hospital.
I rang the bell for the nurse.
Peter, hearing the bell, came rushing toward me. "Mary, are you alright?" he
asked.
"Peter," I replied. "What happened to me? Why am I here? Why are you here?"
"We were in an accident, Mary. A car slammed into us on the way back from the
concert. Don't you remember?" asked Peter.
"I don't remember. All I remember is glass shattering," I replied. "And that I
was Mary, but I am not. I remember everything now Peter."
"You do! That's great!" replied Peter, giving me a gentle hug.
"Does 'at mean ya 'ave to go 'ome?" asked Davy.
"Yeah, Mary...do ya?" asked Micky."Well?" asked Mike.
"My parents are probably worried sick, so I'll have to eventually," I replied.
"Promise me that you won't forget us........"....
I shook my head and got up off the ground.
"What?" I mumbled. "Hey, why am I
here? Where's Peter? Micky? Davy? Mike?"
I shook the dirt off my clothes and
looked at my bike. It was in perfect condition, not even a scratch. What
happened? The last words of Peter echoed in my mind......"won't forget
us....forget us....us...us...."
I looked up into the sunny sky and said, "I
won't. I won't forget you, ever...."
