This game was a breakthrough in computer gaming. The first ever first-person perspective shoot-em-up, this game will always be considered a classic. If it wasn't for this game, we might still be playing super mario games.

Equipped with a PG-13 rating, the story behind this game was that you were a guy trying to escape from a Nazi prison camp. Of course the only way to escape is to shoot every Nazi you see before they shoot you. Since this game was first-perspective, it introduced a more realistic type of gaming which has caught on indefinitely. Although it may be found offensive to some people, it is still a very fun and difficult game to play. However, after exposure to newer and much more developed games, this game now seems flat (2-dimesnional maps) and that may make it lose its appeal to the keen quake/doom addicts.

Don't underestimate the value of this game. It is surprising how much strategy you can learn for these new 3d games by playing the original. It's shareware too, so go and download it today!
