Hello Everybody,

I know it's been awhile since our last letter. I figured I'd better write one before you reported us to missing persons.

Well, we've had a great summer. It was hot, but we got to play a few shows and we had lots of fun. Most of our concerts recently have been with a new band called Lynchpyn. They are great and we've had a lot of fun with them. If you're from South Florida and haven't had a chance to check them out yet - do it. We also were invited to be on the Late Show with Joe at Riverside Baptist Church. That was a lot of fun, but a cow kept calling during our interview and kept interrupting Alex.

Speaking of Alex, he's our new drummer. He's great and he really adds alot to our band, alot more than drums. (cymbals too) As for the rest of us, Clint got a haircut and real job (like my big brother Bob) He's real mature now. Just kidding (about the mature part), he's still in the band. Julio and I started school again. It's our last year unless Julio decides to become a Doctor. We've written some new stuff this month and will be playing it on Oct 31 at the Warehouse Cafe' (see Concert Info page) Here's a note for you guys who have known us for a while: We rewrote Hold. You gotta check the new version out.

I know some of you have been asking about buying tapes. We expect to release something soon. As soon as we do we'll let you know. I want to thank all of you who are supporting us. You guys are awesome. Please pray for us and for the people we get to minister to. Sometimes we get so caught up in the music part of the band we forget about everything else. So pray that God will truly use us, because we want to be more than just a Christian Alternative Band.

And pray that for yourself too. If you're a Christian then in whatever you do, whether it be music or sports or math or whatever, God can and wants to use you. You might be discouraged right now, wondering what your life is all about. Just remember, God created you and has a plan for you. The closer you draw to Him the more you'll realize his will.

Well thats all for now. Have a Nice Day.

Julio (Dr. Rock), Clint (Zach), Alex (Lucky Eddie) and Sam (Slap)

EvangerNews - 03/31/98

Hello again from Evangerine in already-sunny Miami, Florida. Here is your latest scoop of Evangerine info.

We have a new release!!!

Yes, finally something you can hear. Its our latest single, "Have a Nice Day." I know. I know. One whole song. We went into the studio on March 19 and came out on March 20 with the shiney new tune in our hands. You can't buy it anywhere, but you can request it on WVUM (90.5 FM - Music with Meaning, Sundays 7-10 am) if you live in Miami. The recording was engineered by our pal, Claude Parker, and Clint played drums and bass guitar (not at the same time). Julio, played some awesome guitar, and I sang terribly, but thanks to technology I ended up sounding great.

We haven't been playing out because we are still looking for the right drummer. So in the mean time we've been practicing really hard. Clint and I did lead praise and worship over at Key Biscayne Presbiterian Church last week. What an awesome experience. I felt like God really spoke to me that night during the message afterwards by Irwin Podjaser. It was about Jonah, and obeying God.

Well, thats all the news for now, but I want to leave you with a thought. I heard this at a Reality Check concert I went to last weekend:

No matter who you are, or what you've done, or what you look like, or what religion you claim to be, No matter what - Jesus loves YOU, just how you are.

Well, have a good month or two,

Julio, Clint and Slappy

Greetings from the fruity band.

Here's your "once in a while" update of the lives of the members of Evangerine. Let's start with Jed.

Last month Jed packed up his drums and with a tear in his eye waived good bye to the rest of us as he left for Peru to study El Niño. (Well, not exactly) He felt the call of God to concentrate more on his own ROCKIN' band ASH WEDNESDAY. (check them out) Also he is doing some stuff with FRANK'S ENEMY. (check them out too) We will miss him, and we wish him the best.

The remaining members, Julio, Clint and I are getting ready to go into the studio to record some STUFF. Luckily, Clint can play both the drums and the bass in the studio. (but for some reason he can't do that on stage) We've been practicing and playing out with a couple drummers, Ricky and Adrian, but are still looking for a permanent one.

Last week Clint and I got to play at two youth groups. Grace Lutheran Church in Miami Springs and Bueno Noticias de Fe in Pembroke Pines. We got some help from our friends Chucky and Rudy. And another friend, Adrian, sat in on the drums at Grace Lutheran. (Thanks guys) Also at Grace Lutheran we were priviledged to be the opening act for Guy Brewer who spoke after we were done playing. Every time he mentioned the word "love" someone in the audience got to stand up and say, "give me a standing ovation." And we all would give that individual a standing ovation. At Bueno Noticias de Fe (I hope I'm saying that right) We got our picture taken with the whole youth group. I hope we get a copy. And I got to play volleyball afterwards. My team lost, but it was close.

God has truly blessed us by giving us the opportunity to sing about Him in front of people, and to share His Love with them. Nothing could make us happier. Please keep us in your prayers as He rebuilds our band.

Your Friends,

Julio, Clint and Slap

Hey all you fans and fanettes (and others)

I hope you are having a wonderful holiday season. I know you must be worried about us since we haven't written in so long. Sorry, we were stuck in traffic. So anyway, here's the big news:

Well, that's about it. Keep us in your prayers and drop us a note to let us know how you are, and God bless you (even if you didn't sneeze).

Your Friends,

Julio, Jed, Clint and Slap

Hello Everybody,

I just want to give you guys an update on Evangerine. We played twice last month (Yes, I know that's a violation of policy) at Riverside Baptist Church on Oct 10 and at Key Biscayne Presbeterian Church on All Hallows Eve. The shows went well, except I was playing the bass and on the Halloween show Julio and I played without Jed on the drums.

Good news: This week we will be jamming with a new guy on bass in practice. If he works out then I can finally start dancing around on stage again. More good news: We are going to be recording some this week. Jed is working on a technoish version of our song "Switch" which will feature Miami's own David Paul Guzman on the organ.

As far as upcoming shows, we are working on one right now. I don't want to say where it is because it hasn't been confirmed yet, but check out our website this week and the info should be up. Speaking of our website, if you haven't seen it yet - Its awesome. Larry Tomlinson does a great job. He even included embarrasing pictures of the band.

Last but not least, if you pray then keep us in your prayers.

Have a fruity nice day - Your friends,

Julio, Jed and Slap

Evangerine Update: 9/17/97

Hey Guys and Gals,

This is going to be short.

Yes, I met Sarah Masen at Night of Joy this year. She was very nice. I didn't introduce myself because there were other people waiting to meet her too.

Julio, Jed and I are as busy as little bumble bees with school. It looks like we are probably going to have to go ahead and graduate since the record deal hasn't come through yet. (ha ha)

I am very excited about playing at Riverside Baptist Church next month because that is my church. We have already played at Julio's church, First Baptist- Cutler Ridge, twice; We've played at Jed's church, Wesley, about a million times, but we've only played at my church once. So I am finally starting to catch up. We hope to see you there.

Till next time,

Slappy

Evangerine Update: 8/12/97

Greetings from Evangerine. First of all, I'd like to welcome and introduce the newest member of Evangerine. He is a 17 year old high-school/college student (Now-a-days you can be both). He is from Miami, FL. He is our new drummer. Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present: Jed Brewer. Does that name seem familiar to you? It should. Jed is also the founder of the Gothic/Industrial band, Ash Wednesday.

Interesting band stuff for you to know: We've been writing some new songs. I think they are pretty cool (but then again, of course I'd think they're cool). We played at South Florida Mortified last month. That was a benefit concert to raise money for Steve Rowe of Mortification. That concert went well. I played the bass and wore a Lucky Charms hat. I tried to get Julio to wear some alien antenna, but he wouldn't. Email us if you think he should for the next show. Jed sat in with us on the drums (and wore the antenna). We are working on several shows for the end of summer, but none have been confirmed as of this second. Check back very soon because that information will soon appear.

In our personal lives: We are all preparing to go back to school. Julio is STILL killing those mice (in the name of science). Jed does all kinds of computer stuff. I am now a barista*. I am also the only one in the band whose name doesn't start with "J". I'm hungry now, so I'll talk to you later.

Have a fruity day,

Slappy

* a barista is one who makes gourmet coffee.

Evangerine Update: 7/8/97

Well, we're back. So far this summer Julio and I have played a couple of shows and have one more on the schedule. We are still looking for a bass player and a drummer, so we are playing acoustic sets. However, some great guys have been willing to sit in with us on drums now and then so we've been able really rock on a few songs (the ones in which I can play the bass and sing at the same time). We are waiting for God to send the right musicians to us so I no longer have to mutilate our music.

Ok, The Month of June:
Evangerine played at Wayside Baptist Church's "Out of School Bash, thingie" with Ninety Nine, Life of Riley and a speaker named Scott Parker (actually his name still is Scott Parker). Tim Clo, drummer for the "New Stream Pop" band Life of Riley, sat in with us on our first two songs. That was a really cool event, and there were lots of people and lots of door prizes. Also in June, we played at the Peculiar Cafe all by ourselves. That show didn't go as well because I was really bummed out about something. Hopefully we can play there again sometime and try to redeem ourselves, if they'll let us.

In our personal lives, because I know that's what you really care about, this is what's happening:
Julio is still working as a mouse killer at Jackson Memorial Hospital, for a very worthwhile cause, of course. He is not taking any classes over the summer and will be going back to U of M in the fall to continue studying to be a doctor.

I, Slappy, am in the process of getting a new job, where I will be talking on the phone to angry people who want money and telling them, "No". Last month my girlfriend and I broke up, but its cool because we're still friends. Also, I am still struggling to sit still in school.

Coming up:
We are participating in a benefit concert called South Florida Mortified on July 19 at the University of Miami Wesely Center. The concert is to benefit a great guy named Steve Rowe. He is the lead singer for the Austrailian Metal band, Mortification. He is also battling Leukemia. Please say a prayer for Steve right now. For more information about South Florida Mortified you can visit Frank's Enemy's Web site.

And I think that about it.

God Bless,

Slappy
