Annie squinted her eyes from the sunlight streaming through the window.
She sighed happily and rolled over, expecting to see Brian, but found a note
instead. She reached over and picked up the small white note card and read it
aloud.
"Morning gorgeous, As you can tell I'm not here. I had to go to the
studio early today, we have a photo shoot for the cover of the album and more
recording. I won't be home until late night, sorry hun. But until then, what
is this lovely lady supposed to do? I know you don't have any classes and I
bet you're wondering why it's so quiet. Anthony is with Kim, at her house.
Why don't you open the envelope?" she finished with a smile, "What envelope?"
she asked herself then spotted a tan envelope taped to the bathroom door.
She lazily got out of bed and made her way to the door. She took the
envelope down and tore it open. A small slip of paper fell out and she read
it out loud, "Well, if you're reading this you're probably wondering what
kind of crack I'm on for leaving you so many notes, " she laughed, " This is
just one of your many surprises for today milady. Go in the bathroom."
She put the note on the night stand, before going in the bath room, "It's
been ages since Brian's done something romantic for me. I really thought he
was starting to loose his touch, well, I guess this clears everything up,"
she concluded then walked into the bathroom only to get the surprise of her
life.
"Ohmigod...I love him," she said simply looking around the room. There
were white vanilla scented candles around the tub, giving the room a soft
glow. She glanced at the sink and her favorite book was set there. She
started to get tears in her eyes, "Damn, I'm so sentimental, " she sniffled.
The rest of the day went basically like that. She found little surprises
all around the house. When she finished her bath there was a beautiful
bouquet of white roses on the breakfast table. She found all her favorite
fruits in the refrigerator. There was a tape on the coffee table that had
'Play me' on it and it was Brian singing their song, I Knew I Loved You,
which brought her to tears, he sang it so beautifully.
It was around six o clock when she plopped on the couch and decided to
veg out until Brian got home. She grumbled when the doorbell rang.
"Yes?" she asked seeing an UPS worker at the door.
"Are you, Mrs. Littrell?"
She smiled, 'Already made me his wife, too cute,' she thought. "Yes,
that's me."
"Well, here, you go and if you could just sign right here," he said
handing her a small gift wrapped box and a clip board. She signed her name
and handed it back to the man.
"Thank you ma'am, " he said and left.
She closed the door still staring at the box, "Hmm, what could this be?"
she asked herself and sat on the couch with the box. She ripped open the
wrapping paper and carefully opened the box, not sure of what was inside.
There was something wrapped in tissue paper and a note on top, she read
the note first and set the box on her lap.
"I thought this might come in handy for tonight. Don't worry about it,
just be ready at eight. Love Forever, Brian," she read out loud and set the
note aside. She opened the tissue paper and gasped.
It was a dress. She lifted out of the box and let the soft satin material
run through her fingers, "Oh my God, it's so beautiful," she said amazed.
She stood up and held the dress to her, it was a floor length gown.
Nothing fancy, it was actually rather simple. The back was cut out and the
straps wrapped around her neck and went behind her back. The part of the
strap by her neck was covered in diamonds, 'They can't be real, ' she thought
examining the dress further. It was navy blue. She went to put the dress
back, but saw something at the bottom of the box, she over looked. Shoes and
a matching purse. She smiled and shook her head.
She looked at herself one more time in the mirror to make sure everything
was in place.
Her hair was up in a bun and few loose curls hung around her face, she
added a few butterfly clips to her hair to give it more effect. She had on a
little white shimmery eye shadow and natural colored lipgloss.
As she was about to grab her purse she heard the doorbell ring, she was a
bit dasappointed when it wasn't Brian.
"Mrs. Littrell?" the man said in a think French accent.
She smiled, "Yes?"
"Monsieur has requested your appearance tonight at a secret location."
"Oh really?" she laughed.
"Yes, madam, please come with me," he said and held out his arm.
"All right you lead the way," she linked arms with him and he lead her to
a white stretch limo. Her mouth dropped open, "Oh my God," she managed to get
out, barely audible.
"Something wrong, madam?" he asked.
"No, not at all, " she shook her head, "I'm just surprised that's all."
"Ok, well, in you go," he said and opened the door.
About an hour later the limo came to a stop and her door opened, before
she had a chance to see where she was someone stepped in front of her.
"Please put this on," the driver said and handed her a blind fold.
"A blind fold? For what?" she asked, confused.
"I'm sorry, but Monsieur requested it," he apologized.
"Oh, that's Ok," she said putting the blind fold on careful not to mess
up her hair.
He took her hand and lead her to the door of the building. He let go of
her hand for a moment then took it again carefully guiding her when she had
to go up or turn so she wouldn't bump into anything, but he didn't speak.
Soon she was seated somewhere and the blind fold removed. It took her a
minute for her eyes to adjust to the light, but her mouth dropped open when
she saw the sight in front of her.
She was on the roof of a building overlooking the beach. There were
little white lights surrounding a single table where she was seated and white
rose petals covered the floor, making it soft to the touch. With the sound of
the waves crashing on the shore and a fresh sea breeze, the night was
perfect. Oh hell, it could've been 20 degrees below zero, snowing, and she
could've been naked and she still would've been happy as long as Brian was
there.
"You like? " a voice finally spoke up from behind her.
She turned around and saw Brian there in a tux. A tux! This man was too
good to be true.
All she could do was nod, not trusting her own voice. He strolled over to
her and took her hand.
"May I have this dance?" he asked.
She was about to protest that there was no music, but no sooner did 'No
One Else Comes Close' start to play, she had know had idea from where, but
didn't really care.
She stood up and Brian moved them over into the moonlight.
When she found her voice she said those three words without even
thinking, "I love you," she said softly.
"I love you too," he whispered as she laid her head on his chest and his
hand draped lazily around her waist as they moved with them music.
"I love you and your surprises. They were lovely."
"Not as lovely as you," he replied and felt her smile against his chest.
"I just want to stay like this forever," she whispered.
"No on says you have to move," he said and started to rub her back.
She closed her eyes and listened to his heart beat. She didn't know it,
but his heart was beating for her.
A shrill ringing broke the silence.
"Damn, cell phone, I could've sworn I cut it off," Brian muttered, not
making any attempt to get it.
"Aren't you going to answer that?" Annie laughed.
"No, whoever it is will have to call back, I'm busy," he said into her
hair.
"Brian...that ringing is getting annoying."
"All right, but after this call I'm chucking this thing into the ocean,"
he said and with his free hand picked the cell phone of his belt buckle.
He flicked it open and brought it up to his ear, "Hello, whoever this is
better have a good excuse for interrupting my romantic night," he said.
"Ohmigod! Ohmigod! He's gone!" A frantic voice came through the phone.
