Stalin's Order Bio

Stalin's Order was originally just a vague dream of Dave and Tim's, who came up with the idea to start a punk band back in the winter of '96-'97, while they were juniors in high school. Dave had a drum kit and Tim could do a dubious Jello Biafra impression, they just need the rest of the band. School friends Jeff and Duncan were tried on guitar and bass, respectively, and quickly dumped. Then in the spring of '97 Dave and Tim met Brian, who although a mere freshman, was a pretty decent and motivated guitar player. Now all that was needed was a bass player. At the final Brainsick show in October of '97, the band met Mike, who was asked to join and did. After a few practices the band hooked up with some free studio time at Fairhaven College and recorded their first demo in February '98 a 6 song tape which sounds like shit. A second guitarist, James, of P.A.C. infamy, joined in March, and finally the band discovered their sound. Stalin's Order played their first show on April 24, 1998 at the Lucia Douglas Gallery with P.A.C., Kitty Spit 'n Fire and Nadir. More shows followed and the band went to the studio to record a 14 song demo in August, which actually sounds pretty damn good. More shows followed, but after some infighting, the future looked doubtful, and in late January '99 a brief break-up ensued, and James left the band. However, S.O. put aside these problems and reformed in their original four piece configuration. We lasted another nine months before our last show on October 5th, 1999.
