DAVE ROWNTREE

Born May 8th 1964 - the oldest member of Blur.
Formed a group called 'Idlevice' with Graham Coxon as well as 'Hazle Dean' and 'The Carp Eaters From Hell'.
Attended the 'Thames Polytechnic' in Woolwich, London graduating with a HND in Computer Engineering.
His Dad was a sound engineer for the BBC for forty years and his mother played piano in the London Orchestra.

Was a student in a saturday morning Jazz class taught by Damon's father.
Became a protest vegetarian but failed to adhere to basic nutrition requirements and ended up in hospital with malnutrition.
Lived in France for a short period and played in small-time clubs.
Was a punker and had a pink mohawk.
His first instrument he learnt to play was the Chanter, which is similar to the bagpipes.
Was the last member to join 'Circus' and was recruited by Graham. They then changed their name to 'Seymour' and then, of course, 'Blur'.
He is a qualified pilot, and has his own plane, a 'Grumman-American AA-5' (whatever that is!)
Was employed as a computer programmer for Colchester Council before joining Blur.
Has an older sister named Sarah, who is a Nurse by proffesion.
Learned drums the hard way from a large disciplined Scotsman who tapped a sixpence to the drum skin and would smack pupil across the back of the head if the stick missed the target.
Married to a Canadian girl named Paula.
Was a one-time contributor to the official Blur web-site 'Blurspace'.
Is currently working on a series of animations for MTV and Channel 4.
