Album ** 1/2
Their debut album showed right from the beginning how they would
change the world of Rock & Roll.
Transmaniacom MC *** 1/2
Blue Oyster Cult came out rocking from the very start with their 1st song on
their first album. Excellent guitars on this one.
I'm On The Lamb, But I Ain't No Sheep **
A bit of a country sound to the guitars on this one. This song was
eventually re-recorded under the name "The Red And The Black" which is
by far the better of the two versions.
Then Came The Last Days Of May **
This is a nice slow ballad. Sounds like the type of song you'd listen
to while stoned back in the 60's.
Stairway To The Stars *** 1/2
This song became the standard concert opener for BOC. Nice hard rocking
tune. Good guitar solo. And the piano adds a nice touch to it as
well.
Before The Kiss, A Redcap *** 1/2
Nice rocking tune. Not too hard, not too soft. This song shows how
much musical ability they have as they blend all the instruments
together perfectly. It also has a nice bass
solo.
Screams *
Not the greatest song. They did an odd job of mixing the vocals to try
to give it that haunting sound but ended up just becoming almost
uncomprehendable. Sounds like a song from a bad B-Horror movie.
She's As Beautiful As A Foot 0 stars
Probably the low point for BOC. They repeat just about each line is
this song. Nothing to write home about musically. A lot of bass.
Cities On Flame With Rock And Roll ****
One of BOC's Anthems. Slow hard driving beat. Thundering guitars. And
Buck's guitar work really adds to the music.
Workshop Of The Telescopes *
A lot of organs in this one. The music just didn't come together right
on this one.
Redeemed **
A rather country-ish song. It's not bad. Just not what you expect from
BOC.
