Album ** 1/2
Many fans consider this to be the worst album that BOC has put out. I think a lot of that is because they abandoned their usual sound or a more space age-ish type sound. However, with the recent re-release of the album, many fans are changing their minds about the album. Allen Lanier was not present for this album. Rumor has it that he left because he didn't like the direction BOC was going with this album.
White Flags ***
One of the better songs off the album. Has that distinctive BOC sound ixed with the newer space age-ish sound.
Dancin' In The Ruins ***
To me, this sounds like a typical Buck song. The nice smooth vocals over the pulsing guitars and drums. There is a section in the middle that sounds a bit disco-ish, but beside that, a pretty good song.
Make Rock Not War **
With a title, like this, you'd think it would be a real hard rocking song. Wrong. It stays pretty mid tempoed through out.
Perfect Water 1/2*
My least favorite song on this album. Too slow, and way too smooth. Major over producing done here. Very untypical BOC.
Spy In The House Of The Night ** 1/2
Good song. sounds like the BOC we all know and love. Except for the chorus. If they just change the chorus, they would have a big hit on their hands.
Beat 'Em Up *** 1/2
While the song may not have been written by BOC, they do a good job of making it one of their own. Real hard rocking. Good guitar solo. They occasionally throw in a synthesizer sound effect where it's not really needed.
When The War Comes * 1/2
Recognize that voice at the beginning? Why, that's shock jock Howard Stern. Now you're asking yourself, how did they get Howard Stern to do the intro? Well, this was back before he was really popular, and also, Eric is related to him. Eric married Howard's cousin. Outside of that, there's nothing spectacular about the song.
Shadow Warrior * 1/2
Another one of the not so spectacular songs. aside from the rocking guitar solo, I don't know what else to say about it, so I'll offer you this bit of trivial information. Shadow Warrior is the literal translation of ninja.
Madness To The Method * 1/2
This is pretty much a combination of Shadow Warrior and Perfect Water. The song is definitely listenable, but it does run a bit long. The song is over 7 minutes long, and the song gets a bit old towards the end.
