MetallinewS (was What are the band up to at the moment...)
-----------
The band went into the studio earlier this year. As of July 1 95, they
have recorded some basic tracks for 9 songs. Again Bob Rock is producing
the album. In late August early sept
the band take about 4 weeks out of the studio to play 3 dates. There are
currently do plans to play any other shows. From a very recent report the
new untitled album is due in spring 96.. A single '2 by 4' is due out in
october with some 'demos and live shit' on the b-side
And now some stuff from lars...
Lars July 95: "We started writing about six month ago (Feb 95), and that
part turned into a waterfall, an endless cornucopia of ideas that just
keep on coming out. We thought we'd be in the studio in early march, and
for the first time ever we kept on writing songs over and over. The ideas
kept on coming, we decided tto wait and go into the studio when we were
ready. Come the middle of april we were ready. We've been in for 8 or 10
weeks and it's going a lot better than we thought."
Lars July 95: "The new songs we're writing just called for a looser,
livelier type of thing, and we set our goal with this record to try and
capture more the spirit of the songs rather than worrying about the
technical stuff."
James July 95: "We've eased into it very well. There's still some
songs to write, but we've been doing stuff at Lars' pad or my pad which
aren't very far away. We go into another enviroment to write the songs,
head down to the studio, introduce them, basically jam on them, the tape
is rolling and thats how its working together."
Kirk July 95: "This album is much more groove oriented then even the last
album. On this album we have songs that swing; we're playing with some
'boogie', but it still has the crunch, attitide and anger that's embedded
in all of us"

Donnington 95
-------------
The usual intro tape stops halfway through with the announcement 'due to
the recent death of heavy metal tonights MetallicA has been cancelled', to
which james replies 'fuck you muthafucka', after which they launce into
breadfan and a set list similar to last years 'shit hits the sheds tour'.
Buried in there are two new tracks '2 by four'-a really groovy number and
destined to be the next sandman. 'Devils Dance' is the other newie which is
slower and a lot heavier, partly similar in style to Sad but true... Other
changes in the live set include Misfits 'Lundon Dungeon' and Maidens
'Remember tommorow' and a shortend version of Seek and destroy (without the
singalong part)

Misc
----
Metallica logo was originally designed by James. The name MetallicA
was stolen by Lars from Ron Quintana who was at the time putting
together a fanzine, MetallicA was one of the possible titles for the
zine.
The intro the band have used live since the begining is "Ecstasy of
Gold" by Ennio Morricone, from the movie "The Good, The Bad and the
Ugly."
