0803 Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (The Blue One) Background courtesy of christa's background pages Friday...sucked. I got tagged
by my new plattoon sergeant (Blake) for the 20K ruck march. grrr.
So four hours, in formation, through nine miles of sand/dirt, plus another three on hardtop...all up and down...sore feet, sore calves, sore hips, sore shoulders...all weekend. But now, now, I feel better. And, as an extra kicker, it will if life goes my way to any degree, be the last damn 20K I have to do for this man's army...I tell you though, there is no pain in the ass greater than the last mile or two of a twelve mile ruck march with forty pounds... Oh yeah, did I mention, stupid ass me try to be all huuaa huuaa about this ruck. We were only required to pack 15lbs. I figured since we'd be in formation, it wasn't at our own pace, it'd be a slow ass walk, so I could afford to pack 40lbs and be OK, get a workout out of the whole deal... stoooooopid shit. This weekend I fullfileld a long
stadnign desire of mine--I put a bid in on ebay, dutch auction, for a 700mhz
Athlon Bare Bones system...motherboard, cpu, mid tower case. Finally
I can upgrade my system, put a video card in, dvd and mpeg decoder, and
a scsi drive... :)
But then again, that loan from my credit card company might come through in the next few days and then I'd be hooked the booty up... The weekend was spent with finishing off that Petite Sirah and a Merlot in addition, a few cigarettes--yes I backslid, but held fast last night when I wanted another pack ;) OK, so the line being real long helped me on that one last night, but hey, who's counting... Got a ticket to see the pumpkins in Orlando on May 8th...supposed to be a 2400 capacity club.... Yay! Picked up the new album too--it is *so* good. (it's in the car now otherwise i'd be listening to it instead of this one...) SFC Wade and 1SG Willis were going to have my AAM presented Friday morning, but since I was out on the ruck, we'll just see when they want to do it now...I think SFC Wade wanted to do it when I got back from the ruck, but SFC Blake gave me the rest of the day off...hours I spent asleep... And I FINALLY finished all those
remastering jobs from some analogs a fellow Rustee (neil young mailinglist
Hyper Rust) sent me. The rest of his CDs and the master tapes then
go back this week. So now I cna devote time and hard drive space to my
own projects! I won't say what it is now, lest it not turn out so
well, but I have a very very very special project in the works...something
unlike anything I've ever done--something very artistic and dealing with
the human condition and growing up in today's world.
