Bde = Brigade
BDU = Battle Dress Uniform (camouflage uniform)
Bird = aircraft (slang)
Bn = Battalion
BNCOC = Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course (see NCO)
BRM = Basic Rifle Marksmanship
BRT = Bayonet Rifle Training
CB = Combat Boots
CIB = Combat Infantryman Badge
Chapter: 5-13 = personality disorder

COIC = Commanding Officer in Charge
COL = Colonel
CPL = Corporal
CPT = Captain
CSM = Command Sergeant Major
DA 4187 = Personal services request form-- for airborne school, voluntary chapters, etc. etc.
ETS = Exit/End time of Service
FMTV = Family Motor Transport Vehicles
HHD/HSC/HHS/GSC = Headquarters Company
HMMV =  the "jeep" of the army
IO = Investigating Officer
JAG = Judge Advocate General
K Pot = Combat Helmet, see Kevlar
Kevlar = Military standard issue helmet, made of kevlar...supposed the fines combat helmet in the world...
LOD = Line of Duty (investigation on accidents/injuries as to determine whether occurred while in the line of duty or not)
LT = Lieutenant
LTC = Lieutenant Colonel
MAJ = Major
MI = Military Intelligence
MOS = Military Operations Specialty (the job each soldier trains to perform), PMOS = primary
MRE = Meal Ready to Eat (field rations)
MSG = Master Sergeant
NCO = Noncommissioned Officer, in order of rank from lowest to highest: Corporal, Sergeant, Staff Sergeant,
Sergeant First Class, Master Sergeant, First Sergeant, Sergeant Major, Command Sergeant Major,
Sergeant Major of the Army
NCOER = Noncomissioned Officer Evaluation Report (annual work evaluation)
NCOIC = Noncommissioned Officer in Charge
OCS = Officer Candidate School
PCS = Permanent Change of Station (reassignment)
PLDC = Primary Leadership Development Course
PSB/MPD = Personal Services section...they cut orders, store personal files, etc. etc.
PT = Physical Training, exercise
PTs = Apparel for performing PT
CM = Court Martial (SCM, SPCM, GCM = Summary, Special, General, respectively, in order of lowest to highest level)
SGT = Sergeant
SIDPERS = Soldier Information Database Processing Evaluation Records System (or something like that)
SSG = Staff Sergeant
SF = Special Forces
SFC = Sergeant First Class
SM = Sergeant Major
SMA = Sergeant Major of the Army
SOP = Standard Operating Procedure
TDY = Temporary Duty (usually for a school or one specific mission)
TOT = Time on Target (time over drop zone, at mission site, etc.)
UCMJ = Uniform Code of Military Justice -- set of laws imposed by the military above and beyond civilian law
