In 1966 the record label HISPAVOX left behind the EP records, and a new format for recorded
was established music: the single record, which had two songs and was used to put the variuos
artists into the hit lists. At that time, Los Pekenikes were trying to find their way, because they had
no lead singer. Most people in the group had been there since they started in the late 50s, but the
drummer and the lead singer had changed several times. When the single records started to be issued,
Jorge Matey was at the drums, but there was no singer.
That is why the group issued an LP record with only instrumentals, and such songs are those included
in the first singles. The success was so big that they decided to go along the way of instrumental themes.
All singles recorded by PEKENIKES for 18 years are mentioned in the page, and they were issued by variuos record labels:
HISPAVOX, MOVIEPLAY and LADY ALICIA RECORDS (LAR).
