SMACK THUGS HISTORY

Smack Thugs was formed in late April '98. It started out as Malcolm Hargrove on guitar, Joel DeRobertis as lead vocals, and Chris Jerbasi on drums. Chris and Joel wanted to start a band but had no one to play guitar, so they asked me (Mal) to play. We had a few practices with everyone like that and decided it was high time to draft a bass player. Well our friend Brian Joyce wanted to play but then sold his bass, so we got our even better friend Josh Fagan, who had recently broke up with his other band "Mojo and the Uglies", to play with us. We really sucked in the begining, but we still loved to play. When we had written about five songs, we decided to have a concert with our friends "No Intrest" (another local band R.I.P.) in Josh's basement. Well, we cleaned out the damn basement for about three weeks. Well, a week before the show, we kicked Chris (no disrespect) out and snagged a fucking great drummer from "Derision". We went on with the show and it fucking ruled. "No Intrest" played a fucking great set and so did we. We practiced at Josh's house for the rest of the summer and then we had to move the practice space to Mal's house. We practiced in his shed for about a month or so. UPDATED 2/17/99 We played at Mal's house until we played a Mischief Night show with another local band called Lords U.V. Voodoo. We played in front of a bunch of headbagers and they didn't like us. The only people who represented were my brother (very suprising) and our friend Chris. The Malaga Crew came, but they came about 15 minutes after we were done. We were supossed to go on at 8:00, but the other band wanted us to get there, set up and play and get our set over with as quick as possible. So we went on at around 7:30. It was so fucked up. Half the people walked out on us in the middle of the set and the rest didn't clap or respond at all. And if you are reading this and you are one of the people who did walk out on us, you can suck my cock until you choke on my cum. Anyway, after that show we were kinda feelin down and the band was going through some problems like the "Nickel Incident" and such, so the band was temporarily broken up. Well when the two band members straightened out, we all got back together and had a practice at Josh's house in January. Then our friend Anthony a.k.a. "Ant" and "DJ Elevate" held a practice at his house and he started scratchin' some shit in to a few of our harder songs...and it sounds good. Our sound has changed a bit, but we still play punk. The good thing I found out is that it is more fun to play a mixture of music than just one type of music like punk, grunge, or whatever other kinds of bands there are. Now Anthony is in the band. We are planning to make alot more songs with him and to also make more Punk/Hardcore songs to. And as you probably guessed, the band is still together, stronger, and more united and even with a new addition. Hopefully when we get some cash and summer rolls around, we are headed to the studio and get some quality recordings. I will add more shit to this page when shit happens...and as you know what they say...Shit happens.

** We are planning to play at a VFW and are looking for other bands to play with us. If you want to play, drop us a line.
