Toes Across The Floor - Blind Melon
from the album Soup
as transcribed by Andrew

If you ask me, Toes Across The Floor is the most outstanding Blind Melon song for bass guitar. At first it sounds intimidating, admittedly Brad Smith is an excellent and very imaginative bass player, but after a couple of playings it's not too bad and a lot of fun to play.

Below are the main riffs and fills and below that is where they're played. It may not be note for note, but it's pretty close. Happy Playing!

Well, That's what you play, now here's where to play it:

Fig.1
Doesn't anybody feel

That all these killers should be killed
        Fig.2
and all these healers should be healed
     Fig.1
so all these beggars can be filled

Now tell me why am I to lie

if I'm holding firm and feel the right
    Fig.3 Fig.4
to lie down beside this dog of mine
                     Fig.3 Fig.6 Fig.7
and let that perverted thought really run through my mind AA-OO-AA AH

Fig.1
I'd scrape my toes across the floor

This day's the same as those before
      Fig.2
and though inside I'm feeling giddy
                                                   Fig.1
Always wrong for never giving myself an uninvaded door

So now I'll take a little glue

I'll put together a new glittered room for view

                       Fig.3 Fig.8
So I can start sitting so pretty
                 Fig.3
Instead of sitting here not seeing clear
                                Fig.9
Just sitting here not fittin' here
                                           Fig.6
No things ain't fittin' here AA-OO-AA

             Fig.3 Fig.8
I'll just lay my head down beside this God of mine
                   Fig.3 Fig.10
and let that perverted thought burn a hole in my mind
             Fig.3 Fig 11
and If I can't lay my head down beside this God of mine
                  Fig.3
maybe the hunter's dog called God
                      Fig.12 Fig.13
Could be my friend in time
