Thanks to Kevin for all his aid in transcriping this. Tabbed out for a five-
string. For a lot of the parts, I have simply provided the basic chord
progression and general feel (which may not be tabbed out correctly).
Add what flavor you will with arppegios and the different scale modes.
[A - INTRO] x2
G-----------------||-----|-----|-----|------------||
D-K E Y B O A R D-||o----|-----|-----|-----------o||
A-----------------||-----|-----|--3--|------------||
E----I N T R O----||o----|--1--|-----|--3----(1)-o||
B-----------------||--3--|-----|-----|------------||
x6 x8
G-----------||-----------------|---------------||
D----------o||o----------------|------3-------o||
A-----------||--3-5--3-5--3-5--|--3\5---5/3----||
E----------o||o----------------|------------3-o||
B----3-3----||-----------------|---------------||
Next comes a hard lick that I haven't figured out yet, nor can Kevin.
After the hard run, comes a groove part. The groove has a loose feel to it,
but the general idea is written out below, just play around with it for a bit
see what happens, what fits, etc.
[B - Verse 1] x2
G-----------------|-----------------------||--10----10----12\15/12--------||
Do----------------|----------------------o||-----12----12----------12-12--||
A-----------------|-----------------------||------------------------------||

Do----------------|----------------------o||
A-----------------|-----------------------||
Eo-------1--3-----|--------1--3--5-x-----o||
B--3-3-x-------3--|--3-3-x-----------3-x--||
There's a small lick right before he says "Somtimes when, the spirits..." that
I'm not sure on, but just compt something around D on the low string.
[C - Pre-Chorus]
x2 "Tragic..." ~x4
G-----------||-----------------|----------------|---------------||
D----------o||o----------------|----------------|------3-------o||
A-----------||--3-5--3-5--3-5--|--3-5-----------|--3\5---5/3----||
E----------o||o----------------|------3-5---1-3-|------------5-o||
B----3-3----||-----------------|----------------|---------------||
[D - Chorus] I wasn't able to pick up exactly how they run the chorus
but they alternate between the first bit that lands of F and the
second that lands on G.
"Swept away..." xN
G-------------------|-----------------------------||
D----3-5-------3----|------------3-5--------3-5---||

(To F. Guitar Solo 2nd Time/
End after 3rd Time)
[E - Verse 2]
(This verse is a close facsimile to that of B. Verse 1, execept it also combines
a taste of the pre-chorus...)
G-------------------------||
Do-----------------------o||
A-------------------------|| Back to C. Pre-Chorus
Eo-------1-3-------1-3-5-o||
B--1-3-x-----3-1-3--------||
[F - Guitar Solo]
(Half-time Feel) xN
G-----|-----|-----|-----------||-----|-----|-----|-----||
Do----|-----|-----|----------o||o----|-----|-----|----o||
A-----|-----|--3--|-----------||--1--|-----|-----|--3--||
Eo----|--1--|-----|--3---(1)-o||o----|--3--|--1--|----o||
B--3--|-----|-----|-----------||-----|-----|-----|-----||
[G - Interlude]
"We fabricate..." "In our stream..."
G-----|-----|-----|-----------||-----|-----|-----|-----||
Do----|-----|-----|----------o||o----|-----|-----|----o||
A-----|-----|--3--|-----------||--1--|-----|-----|--3--||
Eo----|--1--|-----|--3---(1)-o||o----|--3--|--1--|----o||
B--3--|-----|-----|-----------||-----|-----|-----|-----||
(Sometimes in the second chord progession plays a 'D' on the B string, then
goes on to C. Listen for it, it happens right before they are going to
change to another part of the song - that's the best way I can describe it.)
At some point or 'nother it goes back to this:
(keyboard groove)
G-----------||-----------------|---------------||
D----------o||o----------------|------3-------o||
A-----------||--3-5--3-5--3-5--|--3\5---5/3----||
E----------o||o----------------|------------5-o||
B----3-3----||-----------------|---------------||
Eventually it goes into this chromatic bit:
G----------------|---------------|----------------|-------5--------|
D----------------|------3--------|-------3-5--5-7-|---5\7---7/5----|
A--3-5-----------|--3\5---5/3----|--3-5-----------|--------------7-|
E-------1-3--3-5-|------------5--|----------------|----------------|
B----------------|---------------|----------------|----------------|
G----------------------|-------12-----------|
D--------10-12--12-14--|-12\14----14/12-----|
A--10-12---------------|----------------14--|
E----------------------|--------------------|
B----------------------|--------------------|
G----------------------|-------17-----------||
D--------15-17--17-19--|-17\19----19/17-----||
A--17-19---------------|----------------19--||
E----------------------|--------------------||
B----------------------|--------------------||
Goes back to the keyboard groove, where John does his beautiful harmonic bit
that I have no idea how to do:
(here's the lick for the keyboard jam,
free of charge)
G-----------||-----------17\14----12----|-----||
D----------o||--------17-------15----12-|-----||
A-----------||--------------------------|-----||
E----------o||--------------------------|-----||
B----3-3----||--3-3---------------------|-3-3-||
to B. Verse 1
then to a part I'm not to sure on.
to C. Pre-Chorus
...There it is. For most of the song, play off the feel and what you here,
this ought to help you get in the right area. I'm sorry I wasn't able to make
this more comprehensive, but like I said, it should get you in the right ball park.
Enjoy.
