When the top Irish pop band BOYZONE came to Manila early this year, it was for a brief promotional tour only, but those four days of endearing and fabulous music-making were enough to leave a great and lasting impression on the group's army of fans. In fact, it whipped up a storm among music-lovers and enthusiasts when it performed at a series os special appearances here, including a jampacked party at the LIMITS DISCO and a television guesting at the ever popular "EAT BULAGA" on Channel 7.

However that visit, while memorable was not enough to satisfy Boyzone's legions of fans especially those who failed to make it to their few guest performances and who yearned for more of the bands patented interpretation of old golden hots with a youthful new sound. Boyzone's fans won't be disappointed anymore as the sensational quintet returns to the country for a two-night live gig to be highlighted by a concert at the TANGHALANG FRANCISCO BALAGTAS(FOLK ARTS THEATER OR FAT) of the CULTURAL CENTER OF THE PHILIPPINES(CCP) in Pasay City on Aug.30 at 8:00pm. Boyzone is also scheduled to perform at the NEW CEBU COLISEUM in CEBU CITY at 8:00pm, on Aug.29 just a day after its arrival from Europe. Dubbed as "BOYZONE : A DIFFERENT BEAT ASIA TOUR" the back-to-back concert is a major part of the Asian leg of the band's current tour to promote its latest album of the same title. The two-and-a-half hour concerts will showcase some of Boyzone's biggest hits during a short but spectacular musical career spanning four years including the blockbuster hits, "LOVE ME FOR A REASON", "WORDS," and "BEN." Also to be featured are other songs from "A DIFFERENT BEAT," album such as "PARADISE," "MELTING POT," "WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR ME," "DON'T STOP LOOKING FOR LOVE," "ISN'T IT A WONDER," "IT'S TIME," "GAMES OF LOVE," "STRONG ENOUGH," "HEAVEN KNOWS," "CRYING IN THE NIGHT," "GIVE A LITTLE," and "SHE MOVES THROUGH THE FAIR."

The musical event brings to the concert scene of the most exicting and most spectacular pop bands which took the musical world by storm with its endearing version of the BEE GEES' smash hit, "WORDS." Such overnight acclaimed was hardly on the minds of SHANE LYNCH, MIKEY GRAHAM, KEITH DUFFY, RONAN KEATING, and STEPHEN GATELY when they were from among 300 young aspirants in an audition in Dublin, Ireland in November 1993 to compose the line-up of Ireland's first pop teen sensation. After its debut single, "Working my way back to you," reached no. 3 in England within weeks of its release, things were never the same again for the band; it became an instant household name, generating a small horde of frenzied, shrieking fans who mobbed them wherever they went. Its follow-up single, the OSMONDS' cover, "Love me for a reason," catapulted Boyzone to musical superstardom in January 1995. As the band's breakthrough single, the song reached no.1 in two weeks after its release in November 1994 and became its first international hit with total sales of more than 1.3 million copies and counting. In England, a series of TV appearances, magazine fornt covers in extensive airplays propelled "Love me afor a reason" to no.2 in the charts and established Boyzone as the hottest tip for 1995. The band capped a phenomenally successful debut year when it received the "Best Band on the Road" and the "Best Newcomers for 1995" awards from Smash Hits. It is also acclaimed in the press as successor of "Take That" band. During the past 10 months, Boyzone has consolidated its position as leaders in the first division of pop music by garnering two no.1 singles, no.1 album, and performing before half a million fans across Ireland. The quintet returned to the charts with an infectious version of "Words," the carrier single from "A Different Beat," which passed the one-million sales mark. The stature of the band as new leaders of the pack was further confirmed by the jampacked attendance during its 1996 tour, such as its soldout four-night concert at London's Wembley Arena last summer and a nationwide arena tour in December. Early this year, Boyzone earned another accolade when it was proclaimed MTV ASIA'S artist of the month with the exceptional chart performance of "Words." "Boyzone: A Different Beat Asian Tour" is presented by Penshoppe in cooperation with Sketchers, Magnolia Low-Fat Milk, and the Manila Hotel(for Manila) and Manila Chocolait(for Cebu City) with the support of Polycosmic Records.
