Here's the Presscon of Boyzone in CEBU!!!!!!!
Q: "How do you find Cebu so far?"
Shane: "You can't really say an awful lot about that...because we just arrived last night..."
Q: "Most of your songs seem to be very positive, very young, very hopeful...is that a deliberate choice for you? If not, then what defines Boyzone music?
Shane:"Our songs are pretty much easy listening music. They're songs that people are not going to find any hidden messages in. They're just about old-fashioned love, relationships and experiences. People actually think that the songs are written for them...not just for the fans...it appeals to all age groups, from a very young age to very old age ... and that's what we've succeeded in doing."
Q: "Who of you looks up to George Michael as a singer?"
BZ: "That would be Ronan"
Q: "Why is that?"
Ronan: "It's not that I look up to him. It's just that I like these styles of music...first, Wham, then George Michael.I think they're very good. I like the melodies, they have good pop songs.George is still writing great songs."
Q: "Out of the five of you, who helps out in the writing of the lyrics? Are you guys that really involved in the writing and collaboration?"
Shane: "If you've seen the last two albums...all of it was very mainstream pop. There were altogether three songs which weren't our own."
Keith: "We're all equal"
Q: "But who really gets involved in the writing?"
Stephen: "We're all equal like he said but some are equal than others"
Q: "You're quite a long way from Dublin. How's life been since you started? Was there a big change in lifestyle?"
Ronan: "There was obviously much less travelling in Dublin...not like this, you know. Boyzone and the success of Boyzone has enabled us to travel the world and meet many interesting people. Places, too."
Q:"Is travelling one of the perks of being Boyzone?"
Shane:"It's definitely one of 'em, yeah. But you don't get to stay long in one place...you go to a city and you get to see the hotel rooms, leave the next day. It's kinda sad."
Stephen: (On travel) "I think I've gone to many places in all. I think I've been to, maybe 20 places in all. It's great. I love this stuff. It's the first time that we're actually bringing our show out to people, to show them what we do, as performers on stage. They've got the album, but now it's time that we show'em the concerts."
Q:"For Ronan... in your profile it says that sometimes you don't like the media."
Ronan:"Absolutely not. I'm sure that was taken totally wrong. Sometimes the press kids just don't tell the truth. Sometimes it can be hard, like when we're travelling around, and every city you go you're saying the same things. Sometimes it's upsetting because we've worked very hard to co-produce some music. They don't understand that, but by no means do I hate the media. I love the media very much."
Q: "Is anyone officially married?"
Shane: "No one is officially married...no!!!
Q: "What's the shaved eyebrow? What's that for? Identity?
Shane: "This is an accident when I was six."
Q: "You guys didn't know each other before Boyzone, right? So was it smooth-sailing from the get-go?"
Mikey: "As Ronan said, sometimes the press didn't tell the truth. Shane came up with the initial concept of creating a pop band in Ireland. And we all knew each other through different angles. Myself and Shane were in a technical college together. Himself and Keith knew each other from the same area that they lived in. Shane knew Steven. And Steven was a friend of Ronan's."
Q: "I hear you guys are putting together an official Boyzone magazine. I that true?"
Ronan:"That's right."
Q: "What will it be all about?"
Keith: "It's basically a magazine showing what we've been up to while we're away...It's the biggest fan magazine in the UK and the Europe at the moment...It's a very, very high quality magazine as well. And it's also very personal."
Q: "Some tracks in your album are revivals. Why sing the revivals?"
Shane:"Why do we do cover versions...it's very plain and simple. They can relate to other people in very good ways, such as past time memories so therefore they know the song, and they'll love the band, which is a new band called Boyzone. Also, the covers which we used to do were past time favorites of each individual Boyzone, such as the Beegees for Mikey, the song Father and Son was a favorite of Ronan, Michael Jackson's Ben was Steven's. Boyzone got to record their all-time favorites. That's the main reason."
Q: "What kind of styles in clothes do you go for?"
Keith:"Earth colors."
Ronan: "Well, basically, we just wear whatever we want to wear, you know."
Shane: "Baby Penshoppe."
Q: "Shane, it says in your profile that you're very, very shy. You don't look it..."
Ronan: "It's the press kids again!"
Shane: "I can be shy at sometimes, like everybody, I suppose. My appearance is loud, so that says a lot about my personality."
Q: "When was Boyzone organized?"
BZ: "Never. We were never organized."
Stephen: "We got together four years ago."
Shane: "When we first got together, we were around 16 to a bit over 18. That's one reason why the group was called Boyzone. It was the right name for the concept at that time, not thinking of the future, when we do happen to be called men...which is, I suppose, right now. We're all over 20 years of age. That's just a name that stuck with Boyzone. It's not necessarily what we're all about."
