Welcome to Codi Bear's home on the web

Codi came into our lives on October 7th, 1999. He was a stray taken in at animal control. When they found him Codi had a badly bitten leg. One of the bites went all of the way down to his joint. It was pure luck that I happened to find him and lucky I did since he would have been euthanized the very next day. He is a one and a half year old German Shepherd/ Chow mix. He has a mild temperment and is a big fuzzy teddy bear. Unfortunately he tested positive for heartworms and also has hookworms. We are going to get him all fixed up. The heartwom treatment can not begin until he gains a bit of weight. We are going to see the vet again this week and hope to start treatment the first week of November. Right now he weighs 42 pounds and needs to gain about 15 pounds. It is so sad that people have animals and allow such horrbile things to happen to them. When Codi first got to my house he did not understand toys, treats, or how to play. He is now starting to settle in and Bailey and Cheyenne have been teaching him all about playing and toys.

UPDATE
Codi has had his first heartworm treatment almost four weeks ago. He goes in for his second set this week. He is doing wonderful and as of four weeks ago he is up to 50 pounds. He has learned all about toys and playing. Codi has turned into a big baby that adores attention.

Codi now weighs 62 pounds and is a very different dog. He loves attention and has finally settled into the home. he is 100% healthy and happy. Codi loves to sleep on my feet at night. He is a wonderful dog!
