Necrofago (GER)- Brutal Mutilation 12" MLP
(Desire For Blood Records 1988/2001)

Somewhere in the year ’01 saw this crude bootleg from Brazil surfacing into the metal scene, along with a bunch of similarly distinctive 12” demo reissues from Inquisicao, Mosh and Sarcofago. This platter did the most consequential task of immortalizing their demos, which is worth rejoicing for the sad many who had their cassette tapes degenerated into filmsy mess. The materials in the picture are “Desire For Blood” demo ’87 and “Brutal Mutilation” demo ’88 on each side of the wax respectively. I bet most people have the notion that the Brazillian deathsters Necrofago goes down the same line as say Sarcofago, but the three tracks off the ’87 demo side prove otherwise, which are indeed bestial renditions of Possessed and Death. The main gripe here is the thin sound quality rendering the drums inaudible. But it goes down as far better in my opinion than the ’88 demo on the other side, which is a retrogression to primitive speedcore of three chords affair and the productions is simply horrendous this time. Making up for the inadequacy of their previous effort, the mixing went overboard with the drum volume; every clash literally shatters the sound picture to smithereens! The underproduced sound do facilitate the three tracks (there should be four though) here though, which are of the noise grind variety, bearing some uncanny semblance to the abyssal Necrobutcher, especially on that disgusting track with grime-covered rusty strings “Morbid Death”. The bootlegger claimed ’88 as the date of publication of this record but the poor layout typical of the haphazardness from greedy opportunists of today apparently gave it away.
