In 1839 the evolution of cameras began.  The first camera produced in large quantities for the public.  It was a box type, born in Giroux, Paris. It was also known as:

daguerreotype camera

Other types were then invented in 1840 & 1841, like the Sliding Box Camera, and the All Metal Camera.

Later in 1850 the accordion type camera was invented.

Time went on more & more cameras were then invented for better performance, special effects, and picture quality. As the Stereoscopic Camera in 1853 which had dual lens.

In 1885 some camera makers started to get a little sneaky.  They would create ways for you to hide the camera. Hidden in a cane handle perhaps, or a clock, a picture, or even a purse.

Or a Folding Camera so you could hide it quickly in your shirt or jacket pocket. As the years progressed they got smaller. Today, the pinhole camera is very popular, it's about the size of a half dollar coin.

In 1890 a neat camera came out and it took wide angle pictures. This type of camera is very popular today, it's called:

At the turn of the century in 1900 the cute little cameras started their way into the world of photography. They called it a snapshot camera, just push n shoot. aka: PHD

In 1913 the first 35mm camera was invented.  It had many switches, levers, and dials, to get the picture just right.

And in 1948 a really popular camera was invented.  Since getting your pictures developed was a long waiting process, many people wish they could have them right now after the shot was taken.   So Walla !!!  A company by the name Polaroid came out with the well known Polaroid Instant camera.  You could take a photo, and in just a few minutes your picture was developed right before your eyes.

As time went on new designs were brought out for easier, better, picture taking.  The more complex cameras as well as the PHD cameras.  The add-on removable lens, filters, flash attachments, wide angle lens, zoom lens, special effects lens, like the fish eye, the portrait, macro, and to keep it still for that great shot, a tripod to hold it all.

Here are just a few of the new cameras from 1950 thru today.

As you can see a lot has changed, 

but one thing hasn't changed, 

they all still produce the picture that says a thousand words.
