I think it's a great cd. "Enlightened" is a great song. "False Goodbyes" is good, "Gone Gone Gone" is good.... There's no need to kiss Ian's ass because h wasn't on it. Will has done some great work on that cd. And the singer had a good voice. I played that cd over and over to the point where my wife was about to have me committed.... But then again, I do that with porcupine, also. |

Yeah, wouldn't it be great for him to come across such utter crap that his supposed die-hard fans have said about his new album. So we all know hat there is a certain difference b/w their material of the early 80's, but who cares? Rather than stack up anything new against your favourite Echo album, listen to with an open mind, half the messages here knock Evergreen. If it was an album by a new rtist you probably couldn't come up with enough superlatives. It sounds to me that there are so many "die-hard" fans who would much rather see EATB no where near the charts, keeping them to themselves so they can maintain their hipper-than-thou lifestyle . Least Favorite Echo Album:: Evergreen Least Favorite Echo Song:: no such thing! | Comments: It saddens me to admit that Evergreen, their latest effort, is my least favourite album to date. Although the songwriting continues to be strong in a pop sense, a certain urgency and evocative poetry has been lost from earlier days. Even the song titles of Evergreen are relatively uninspiring and wordy literal phrases, ie; "Don't Let it Get You Down" while older titles had a definite poetic ambiguity suggesting the emotional power of the music. The raw potential and power of "Crocodiles" is overwhelming continuing to be refined over the next few albums up to and including "Ocean Rain". To me, the momentum seems to be lost at that point, with spotty moments of success to the present. I feel that Electrafixion was highly underrated and it saddens me to ead that Mac and Will sheepishly prefer to shelve this band as some footnote to their musical careers, in an effort to promote the new and improved EATB to the media, preferring to trade on that history [of course, not really their fault]. Electrafixion ay have felt forced or contrived to Mac and Will, but it seemed to be a logical progression of the pair's considerable musical talents and a valid direction in which to go, unlike the [dare I say] insipid tone of Evergreen, which seems to reflect the mell wing of middle age. All of this is relatively speaking of course; EATB still continue to be one of the best in the world, but I miss the power, truth and drama that the Bunnies had from 1979-1985. |

I was surprised how good the Evergreen songs sounded next to the old stuff. Like the grey album, Evergreen is a bit too polished for me, but live... the songs were ten times better. I'm out. |

Hey, everyone on the internet's so happy about the Evergreen album.. but it's a dull pool of mediocrity. It isn't crap, but it's certainly relative; EATB's quality can only be judged against themselves.. not by saying they're better than Hanson (who isn' ?) I'm only happy that they might make some money now, which will make up for all the sonic diamonds they created out in the 80's. |

Who the hell was promoting that album? No airplay, no promotion of upcoming shows, etc. "Burned" is one of the greatest albums I've ever heard. Even though I'm 33, never really knew much about Echo until an Electrifixion show I attended at the Black Cat in Wash DC. At that point, I realized that I was in the presence of greatness. I'm sure I'll be in attendance at several of the upcoming US tour shows. |
