Baroney of Seagirt Summer Tourney - August 21-23
(See very end of my speel for the offical results of the Tourney.)
SST was a blast as always. Last year I had the unparallel honor of meeting Christiana of Seagirt, and camping beside her. This year we did so again, marking the anniversary of our meeting, and decided to make a ritual of it. :)
I came down late late late Friday night, got a little lost as I couldn't see the signs and ended up calling her Ladyship Meredith of Hartwood on my cellphone for directions (as mine flew out the window, note to self: don't leave loose paper on seat with window down). I made it to the event on an almost empty gas tank (thankfully Lady Elizabeth and Lady Marina, fellow Cragmerian's loaned me some silver to get back), and was too tired to set up my tent, so I camped out in the back seat of my 1980 Chevrolet Malibu Classic, her name is Carmel. Carmel is HUGE! It's just like driving a Lazyboy chair, and sleeping in the back was much more comfortable than I anticipated. Huzzah for big backseats!
In the morning I woke up, dressed, washed my hair, was fed good food, and set up camp. Ran into some friends from Lionsgate that I had met again at Clinton, and Llothar asked if I would be his inspiration during the Rapier Tourney. I of course was honored that he asked, and he did VERY well during the Tourney, and made it to the finals. One of the Tourney competitions was "an inspiration's reaction to her lords death". So when Llothar unfortunatly kicked the bucket I ran onto the field crying my poor lil eyes out, sobbed that life wasn't worth living without him, picked up his rapier, and killed myself with it, and fell in the dust beside him, dead. Needless to say, I won that contest, and received a beautiful embroidered pouch and thread clippers, as well as an extra life for my lord during the Tourney.
The evenings were wonderful thanks to Lady Lenorra's smoking area, completly roofed, with benches and chairs! Huzzah to the House of the Black Lung! The bardic fire eventually made its way there, and became the Bardic Lantern. Many songs were sung, and bad jokes made.
I woke up in the morning with a headache, and had to endure the sudden impromtu playing of "kelp" (cut the top and bottom off, it's a large tube, blow in it, it makes a sound). First just one was played...then a duet started....then someone started playing on a picklebarrel, and more sound devices were added. I was hurting. I think I hissed at them as I stumbled my way groggily towards the smoking encampment to drink some water, sit in the air, and try to wake up.
All in all it was a wonderful weekend, I'll have the offical results of the Tourney and such soon, as soon as they are emailed to me. <hint hint!> (And they were, see below)
-Christine "the Good" Connla, House of Inverness, House of Jaculus, Thrall for the Drakkar Sea Raven, Herald and PR for the Shire of Cragmere.
