On this day in Nirvana history...Week 3

Monday 01/18: Don't know

Tuesday 01/19: On 01/19/90 Nirvana played at Rignall Hall on Steamboat Island Rd in Olympia, WA.

Wednesday 01/20: On 01/20/90 the band played a great show at Legends in Tacoma, WA. The show featured the last-ever Token Eastern Song, plus a cool jam of "Sweet Home Alabama." In the middle of the show there was a fight next to the stage. While Kurt checked out what was going on, Krist entertained the audience by singing bits of a couple of Beatles songs, "If I Fell" and "All you need is love."

Thursday 01/21: Don't know

Friday 01/22: On 01/22/93 the band went into the studio in Rio de Janiero, Brazil with Craig Montgomery and recorded at least one song, Gallons of rubbing alcohol flow through the strip. For those of you who haven't heard it, it's mostly improvisation based around one riff Kurt plays over and over. The lyrics are mostly talking or poetry, very improvised. More In Utero songs may have been recorded here. Kurt also helped Hole (Courtney, Kristen and Patty - Eric wasn't there) with some songs. They recorded Miss World, Determined and Closing Time, and perhaps more. This demo is known as the "Rio Tape."

Saturday 01/23: On 01/23/91 Kurt went onstage with the Melvins at their show and jammed on one song, "At a crawl". On 01/23/93 Nirvana played one of their most memoriable shows, at the Apoetose Stadium in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. They debuted Heart-Shaped Box (may have been debuted at 01/16/93?), and played an extended, 9 minute version of Scentless Apprentice. Bits of this can be seen in LTSO. They jammed on Carmen, Possibilities (a Viletones cover) and In the mood, to name a few. They also had Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers join them on trumpet for SLTS. If you're into bootlegs, you should try to get this video.

Sunday 01/24: On 01/24/92 the band played the first show of their Pacific Rim tour, in Sydney, Australia at the Phoenican Club. Rather stale show.
