When the "Jersey City Mods" (Marti, Bob, Liz & Lance) heard that Liam Gallagher threw a book over a balcony at the Glasgow Airport, they had some questions. Can you blame them?
A: What in the world was Liam doing with a book?
B: Was it HIS book?
C: Can Liam actually read?
D: What book was it? Don Quixote? Or was it Alger Hiss' "Better Red than Dead" (a favorite of the late Edie Sedgewick...she really couldn't read either. I guess it didn't matter because she was a Warhol Superstar)?
In search of anwers, the Jersey City Mods wrote to Top of the Pops. -Perhaps they could help solve this mystery. Unfortunately, TOTP was just as baffled by this mystery as the rest of us. Here is their response:
It is indeed a puzzling tale, probably developed by Liam himself in aid of literacy education. Contradictory stories are aflutter everywhere which identify the book as anything from Ulysses to Gravity's Rainbow to Jonathan Livingstone Seagull. The truth will probably never be known.
Cheers and have a good day,
TOTP

***Ladies and Gentlemen, there has been an amazing breakthrough in the Liam book throwing mystery. I recently received an e-mail from an Oasis fan named Cathy, who has some information to add to this story. Here is a transcript of Cathy's e-mail:
hey! i read that the book that liam threw over the balcony was a biography of Paul Mcartney. liam saw one of his roadies reading it, snatched it away, and threw it over the balcony. then it adds that a fan brought the book back to liam thinking that he had dropped it! well, i don't know if it's true, but it sure sounds possible!
This certainly adds a new twist to the case. If you have any more information be sure to contact me. ***
