Albums & Songs

Anastassia Skye has released no albums so far, but several demo songs are available now. Approximately 20-30 songs are in partial construction and will eventually be completed at one point or another. There is enough material for the first two albums, and a few extra bits which will appear on later albums. However, on a positive note, up to six or seven albums have been planned to be released, and from there only time will tell.

After being inspired from going to the Warped Tour, I have felt that it is due time that things begin to start rolling. Anastassia Skye is projecting to have its first album Sailing to the Sun out by the late 21st century (at this rate). However, the real recording process will probably not begin until enough time, money, and other resources have been compiled together so a digital studio can be constructed (using a Macintosh, of course). Take this all with a grain of salt, since recording and the album release may be forced back as far as the year 2020 (if not later).

Sailing to the Sun will contain 8 songs, starting out with two good old fashioned rock songs, then slowing down before starting back up to a climatic, epic-length song. An extra song, also titled "Sailing to the Sun" will either be added as a bonus track to a limited number of copies, or it will be reserved until a later date.

Songlist for Sailing to the Sun:
  1. Rise of the Scorpio - Monster Magnet type rock song
  2. Time to Change - a mesh between Scorpions' "Someone to Touch" and "Life Goes Around"
  3. Nothing & Nameless - one of my first ballads I wrote
  4. Coma Down - think Matthew Sweet + Dandy Warhols + Foo Fighters. Working title was: Odd Chord Song
  5. Burning Bush (tentative title) - rock song with Electric Sun and Bush type vibe
  6. Taken By Storm - influenced by Scorpions and MSG
  7. Drifting Haze - "Drifting Sun" + "Purple Haze" = Drifting Haze
  8. Coma Down (Reprise) - time for a downer. Think Uli Roth + Dandy Warhols + Soundgarden.

The second album Sophomore Effort will be more of a straight-up rock & roll album with some rockers and a few slower songs. There will be about 12-15 songs on this album, featuring Anastassia Skye's current magnum opus, "Power Trip" (no relation to the Monster Magnet or Soundgarden songs of the same name). If things go well with the first album, this second album (untitled at this point) will be released sometime.... Here is a tentative overview of the second album:

Songlist for Sophomore Effort:
  1. Toll of Westminster - a short instrumental piece
  2. Untitled - a chunky rock song, influenced by Axel Rudi Pell's song "Touch the Rainbow"
  3. Power Trip - the mutant child of Scorpions' "Wild Child" and "Alien Nation"
  4. Untitled - a ballad inspired by the chords of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and Scorpions "Under the Same Sun"
  5. Untitled - a song with a slight Middle Eastern tone to it which resulted from listening to Scorpions' "Mind Like A Tree".
  6. He Who Is Left Behind - someone thought this song sounded like Metallica, but this idea was hatched after listening to Axel Rudi Pell's song "Casbah". The lyrics to this song are part fantasy, and partly about isolation.
  7. Untitled - another ballad, with more Scorpions undertones, and some indirect Led Zep influences ("Tangerine")
  8. "Towers of Hanoi" - an instrumental song.
  9. "Classical Opus #2" - A classical bent instrumental piece.
  10. Untitled - a riff that sounds like a mixture between Scorpions "No Pain, No Gain" and Axel Rudi Pell's "(Don't Trust the) Broken Promises".
  11. Another Pell-influenced song, sort of a mix between "Casbah" and "The Masquerade Ball". It starts off with a slower, acoustic-type piece (similar to "Casbah"), but then it kicks into a harder, dissident chord riff (similar to "The Masq. Ball").
  12. Katzenjammer - A rare, blues influenced song. Thanks to ZZ Top.

The next three albums will be in a trilogy, tentatively dubbed the Skye Suite, but originally given the moniker the Edenwaith Trilogy. This trilogy of albums will cross over several genre's of music from classical music to industrial rock. The first album will be dubbed The Arrival, and will contain classical improvisations of songs such as "Canon in D" and "Moonlight Sonata", and many other heavily classical influenced songs and solos (such as Rondo Alla Paganini). The second album will be Oracle , and this album will be more of a standard rock n' roll album, remniscent of the first two A.S. albums. The final album will be more of a darker hard rock and industrial rock album, titled Slave to the Machine or Sklave zur Maschine. This will be a concept album, concentrating on how the mob of society works together in a fairly brainless fashion. Think Metropolis and 1984 meets The Wall.

Skye Suite Vol. I: The Arrival
  • "Rondo Alla Paganini" - A short, classical collage, inspired by the works of Mozart and Paganini.
  • Pedal to the Metal - An Yngwie/Uli influenced melody which makes use of a lot of pedal tones.
Skye Suite Vol. II: Oracle
  • Untitled - a nice loud song which was written in the summer of 1999 after listening to Talisman's "Humanimal". This song will open up on Skye Suite Vol. II: Oracle .
  • Untitled - Another Scorpions-influenced riff, brought on after listening to a demo cut of Scorpions "New Generation", but this song also seems to have elements of Yngwie Malmsteen's "Evil Eye".
  • Untitled - A mixture between Axel Rudi Pell's "The Gates of the Seven Seals" and "Take the Crown".
  • Untitled - A chord-based song, which sounds a bit like acoustic Led Zep or Bad Company at the beginning before kicking into a harder riff, similar to Axel Rudi Pell's "The Masquerade Ball" or "Legions of Hell".
Skye Suite Vol. III: Slave To The Machine (Sklave zur Maschine)
  • The March- a heavy song which reminds me somewhat of AC/DC's "Hell's Bells". This will be the opening song to Skye Suite Vol. III: Slave to the Machine
  • Untitled - an odd, slow, but dissident riff, remniscent of Alice in Chains.

And after the Skye Suite there might be another 'standard' rock album, or perhaps a live album might be released.

Of course these are all tentative ideas at this point, and all, none, or some of this may occur someday. To be fair, expect Diablo III to come out first before any substantial work from Anastassia Skye arises. [Note: Considering that Diablo III was announced in 2008, this prediction turned out to be true.]
