Rain

It's raining inside,
yet I feel alright.
At least, for the moment,
for the darkness has cleared away.

Everything has died,
but we're still alive.
"It'll be okay," you said,
but is it really?

The clouds in your eyes let up
when you see yours in mine.
What about when I'm gone?
What appeases your anguish then?

As I turn to embrace the night,
I see a smile on your shoulder.
We feel alright for now.
For now, we feel alright.

Grey days stare ahead
as a ghost in a tomb,
but it's alright. The sun
has gone down, but it'll come up again.

Someday, but not today.
I'm content, though the rain
still patters on. Do you
hear the rain, too?
I love to hear the sound of the rain
as it washes my sorrow away
and makes me feel glad, just for now.
It'll never leave me
because I won't let it.
