I wish!
I never got to see the BitB in the flesh. I certainly wouldn't have passed
up the chance of seeing them play the 'boro! This reviewer's flippancy is
not appreciated!

I haven't been there yet, but from what I hear they have LOADS of reviews
there.
Maybe some about OUR guys, etc. >>

There are a few (I've annotated some of them here in the past.)
Q magazine has lost it's way big time, imho. If you want a serious music
magazine, check out Q's stablemate, Mojo.
Oh, and isn't that Crimson review just ridiculous.

I'm with you there! I always felt the same way. I thought that Toto had the
potential of becoming a really interesting band. Even more than that song
you
mention I genuinely love their second album "Hydra", not least for the first

couple of songs. They had a nack for long instrumental bits, and they should
have continued in that direction. They even used odd meters! But it is my
impression that CBS forced them to churn out more pop music instead, and
that
it was not really their own decision. They had some interesting bits on
"Turn Back"
as well (was it a guitar synth they used there), but that album and of
course
IV was blatant pop. They made the soundtrack for "Dune", and that gave
another
glimpse of what they could have become.

Cheers

I love the 1st 4 albums. Got 'em on vinyl, but only IV so far on CD. After
those I lost interest in getting any more for some reason, but still love
the early stuff. Bought a cassette of Kingdom of Desire at a garage sale
and was unimpressed. I wasted that quarter! A friend lent me Tambu, and I
liked it better. Shoulda bought it for 99 cents at Columbia House when I
was still a member, but never got around to it.

Yeah! Get 'em! Nobody gets away with delaying our GG releases! Heh

You're missing some great stuff. Walk, don't run to the nearest Circuit
City or somewhere like that (they tend to be the cheapest on older
stuff, at least for a chain).

If you kinda liked Moving Pictures, I'd recommend

Well, I used to, actually, and couldn't stand them. Guess my brain's
wired a bit different. ;)

Heh, it's hard to hold people's arms behind their back through email.
;) Excellent review, sir! It never outright trashes the album, but is
truthful about its shortcomings. It makes one long for more Gentle
times. :) Oh, wait, I was born in '78. Never mind. Heh heh.
